The story begins when Facebook activists circulated, a short time ago, a post about the famous cartoon series Tom and Jerry, where the post contained information about a tragic story behind the world-famous Tom and Jerry cartoon.

The story circulating in the circulating publication claims that the cartoon character of the cat "Tom" resulted from the tragic story of a cat from the Russian blue cat family, "Blue Rushan", who was the victim of a mouse, where he chased the cat, the mouse, and the former fell into a basin to develop the pictures and died in the house of its owner, the photographer and director International American Joseph Barbera, and as a result he decided to create the character of Tom A in loyalty to his dead cat, so he loved him very much.

Tom and Jerry is the most famous cartoon series in the world, produced by an American, produced in 1940 and won Oscars.

The series embodies the conflict between Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse in almost all episodes, and rarely did they agree, so Tom runs to catch Jerry, while the latter is able to escape every time Tom tries to catch him.

The series was written and directed by international director Joseph Barbera and his partner William Hanna, while the music was by Scott Bradley.

In part of the long interview presented by the Foundation Interview network to Joseph Barbera, maker and director of the famous "Tom and Jerry" cartoon, which was conducted by Leonard Maltin and Sunny Parrish on February 26, 1997 in Studio City, California, Barbera talked about the beginnings of the Tom and Jerry industry, where his company decided Design a cartoon series and start doing it and thinking about characters.

Barbera narrates the beginnings of Tom and Jerry's industry, where he entered his room and decided to draw on paper to determine the characters of the series, ending up choosing a cat and a mouse to embody a cartoon series produced by his company with Hannah.

Barbera explained his choice of cat and mouse by the existence of a natural fact about the conflict between cat and mouse, adding that he decided to choose characters from the animal world because people were accustomed at the time to watching the conflict between crocodiles and giraffes, according to him.

Barbera said: "I remember the first drawing I made, which was of a cat running after a mouse at an insane speed, and a rough concept was drawn up. Then we produced the film and it was unique and won an Oscar at the time".

Barbera continued that the reason for calling the series Tom and Jerry is to move away from traditional things: "We wanted to name the two cartoon characters in an unusual way, so we ended up naming them Tom and Jerry".

Barbera did not mention anything about the type of cat Tom, but rather the story was inspired by his imagination, which produced on paper the most famous cartoon character in history.

Joseph Barbera was born in 1911 and died in 2006, at the age of 95. He was an American national, and his beginning was as an animator in New York studios, before moving to California, where he began working in another animation studio, then he founded his company with William Hanna, who created some unforgettable characters and cartoon shows, the most famous of which were the Tom and Jerry cartoon, the famous Smurfs cartoon as well, and the Yuji Bear cartoon.

In the end, Tom and Jerry was one of the best cartoon series loved by children and even adults
