From the moment I made the decision, I knew my life would never be the same again. I had been working in the same grey office for more than a decade, watching my energy and passion slowly fade away. My daily routine had become a prison of comfort, an invisible cell that kept me away from my true dreams. But everything changed the day I decided to quit my job and start my own business: a bookshop-cafeteria.

I remember perfectly the day I took the plunge. I had left work, once again exhausted and uninspired, and as I was walking home, I passed a small shop for rent. I stopped to look through the dusty windows and, at that moment, a spark ignited inside me. I had always loved books and the idea of having a space where people could read, enjoy a good coffee and find a refuge from the daily grind filled me with an indescribable joy just like in the old days.

That night, instead of going straight to bed, I stayed up late, drawing plans and writing down ideas. I felt a thrill I hadn't felt in years; it was as if suddenly all the pieces of my life began to fall into place. The next morning, I made a firm decision: I would quit my job and follow my dream.

The process was not easy.

The first few days after quitting filled me with uncertainty and fear. I had left behind the security of a stable salary to enter an unknown world. But every time doubts crept in, I reminded myself why I had done it. I imagined the smell of freshly brewed coffee, the soft murmur of conversations and the rustle of pages turning. That vision gave me the strength to keep going.

Finding the right room, decorating it and filling it with books was a labour of love. I chose every piece of furniture, every shelf, with meticulous care. I wanted it to be a place where every detail told a story. The walls were filled with shelves full of books of all genres, from literary classics to the latest novelties. In one corner, I set up a small stage for poetry readings and book presentations. And, of course, the aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries permeated the air.

The opening day finally arrived. I had prepared everything meticulously, but nothing had prepared me for the excitement I felt when I saw the first people walk through the door. Families, young people, couples, all curious to discover this new literary heaven. The smiling faces and enthusiastic comments filled me with a deep and sincere joy. I felt that, for the first time in a long time, I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

The following months were a whirlwind of activities. Organising events, managing inventory and serving customers became my new routine, but this time, every day was different and exciting. I learned how to make the perfect coffee, how to recommend books according to customers' tastes and, most importantly, how to enjoy every little achievement.

There were challenging moments, of course. There were days when business was slow and I worried about how I was going to pay the bills. But every time I felt overwhelmed, I remembered why I started this journey. I remembered the regular customers who had become friends, the children who were excited to find their next favourite book, and the people who came to find a little peace amidst the chaos of the city.

One day, as I was closing the shop after a particularly moving poetry reading, I noticed something. I was looking at the shelves full of books, the tables with empty cups and cluttered cushions, and I felt completely at peace. I realised that, for the first time in years, I was genuinely happy. I had found my place in the world and, despite the challenges, every day I woke up with a smile on my face and a clear purpose in my heart.

"It became more than a business; it became a community, a home away from home for many people. Seeing clients come back, hearing their stories and being a part of their lives made me feel that I had achieved something truly meaningful. My life had changed dramatically since the day I decided to quit my job and start my own business, and every day that passed confirmed that I had made the right decision.

Now, every morning, when I open the doors of my bookshop-café, I feel a wave of gratitude and satisfaction. I have learned that being your own boss is not only about freedom, but also about responsibility and passion. It's a road full of ups and downs, but every moment is worth it. Most importantly, I have discovered that true happiness comes from following your dreams, no matter how big or small.

At the end of the day, when I turn off the lights and close the door, I go home with a full heart. My life changed the day I decided to quit my job and start my own business, and now I can say, with absolute certainty, that I am happy!
