Go Fest Sunday

An account of my day because it really was bananas.

Today has been a day I will never forget. A lot of stuff happened. I don't even know where to begin with it all. Banbury had its own comic con event for the first time which took place in my gym. And I didn't go. Normally I would have been all over an event like this. I own a lot of figures, plushies and nerdy stuff, but I haven't seen anything that I've wanted to get in a while. I love going to conventions, but I think once you've been to so many, a lot of them start to feel the same. It's a good feeling to support indie vendors and chains, though I tend to see the same stuff everywhere nowadays.

I'm going to a vegan festival in two weeks and a convention next month. I don't think I'm going to be missing out. There's a nice park 5 minute walk from me that was hosting an event. It was brimming with stalls and music. I loved seeing the little train track run past the birdcage. Banbury used to be a well-known market town, but I feel like there's not always a lot of things to do. That's why I love getting out of Banbury as much as I can and travel.

This weekend has been a big one for Pokemon Go players because the Go Fest became global. We're quite lucky in Banbury because there's quite a big handful of us that will go around and do the raids. It freaked out a lot people glued to their phones catching virtual creatures. Even two people dressed as bananas were walking past and wondered what the hell was going on. I guess if it was Mewtwo, they would understand. It's one of those if you know you know situations. I think some of the people who were not in our generation must think they've entered some sort of modern-day 1984 scenario.

I had a blast doing Go Fest. It's nice trying to bring gamertags/names to faces. I got some nice shiny pokemon, and even got one that a friend of mine wanted. He wants it when we become lucky friends in the game again. I'm personally hoping he forgets all about it, and I get to keep it. I love the green teddy bear. I enjoyed it a lot more than the Rayquaza Elite Raid day because it was more accessible for walkers.

After saying goodbye to the group, I went to meet up with some other friends in Moorfield park which is close to the train station. It's also behind my friend, Maddy's house. It's handy for her and the weather was great and she did a Stitch-themed picnic to celebrate her daughter's birthday. I had a great time there cause after a lot of walking, it was great just to chill. My feet were dead for a while though. Maddy and her family also play Pokemon Go but weren't able to partake in Go Fest as much as planned.

Then my stepdad picked me up, I had Sunday Roast and a sleep. They said I could stay at theirs if I wanted to, but I chose to sleep at mine. I got to see my mum's cat, Ginger too. He looked moody, but seemed to be enjoying the sun.

Today was also a historic day for English Football because England made it through to the Euro finals against Spain. I did work's sweepstake for the Euros and was allocated Spain. It became a Spain vs England final. If Spain win, I get £16. If England win I get £8 and a sense of patriotic country pride. I've been writing this as the game has been playing and whilst my country weeps, I smile as £16 is coming my way.

Is it bad that I'm happy right now.
