Careful deception, a dream inspired many people: Why 5G suddenly disappeared

A Careful Deception, An Inspiring Dream Many People: Why Did 5G Suddenly Disappear? Driverless taxis and buses ply on busy roads, remote medical diagnosis connects remote villages with high-end hospitals in big cities, so it is no longer difficult to check medical health. Excavators work hard in the mine while operators control remotely while sitting in the comfort of the office. Remember all these promotions for 5G dream apps? Why has it suddenly disappeared now? What exactly happened?

Part 1-Children's Learning and Medical Advancements with 5G Technology

Children are now able to learn astronomy through the use of hologram dimensions, making the subject more engaging and easier to understand. In the medical field, doctors are utilizing advanced technology to diagnose patients and carry out operations with the help of robots, thereby simplifying the process of medical health checks. Similarly, agricultural practices have evolved, with tractors farming wheat under automatic control.

Part 2-The Evolution and Promise of 5G Technology

The dream of 5G technology has been a significant topic of discussion, particularly in China. Once seen as a groundbreaking technological advancement, 5G promised to propel China forward, establishing it as a global leader in technology. This fifth-generation mobile network technology offers internet speeds up to 20 times faster than previous generations, making mobile internet comparable to Wi-Fi. The introduction of 5G aims to replace 4G, enhancing network quality and speed significantly.

Wi-Fi, a network technology utilizing radio waves, facilitates high-speed data transfer over short distances, typically providing internet access for various devices without the need for cables. This technology, known as a hotspot, has now evolved into the fifth generation, known as 5G.

Developed to meet the community's need for easy and fast internet access anywhere, even in super-fast vehicles, 5G technology has revolutionized the cellular network landscape. Smartphones have further fueled this development, offering incredible speeds that allow users to stream videos without lag. The 'G' in 5G stands for 'Generation,' signifying its advancement in mobile network technology.

Part 3-The Rise and Decline of 5G in China

The popularity of 5G began in China in 2019, reaching its peak in 2020 as one of the most discussed topics on the internet. By 2021, the Chinese government and various ministries announced a comprehensive 5G action plan for 2021-2023, promoting it as a national industrial initiative. This plan included ambitious goals such as achieving a 40% individual user penetration rate and exceeding 60 million total users by 2023. The plan also aimed to ensure that 5G network access would account for over 50% of total mobile data traffic, fostering the development of smart cities.

However, despite the initial excitement, the fervor surrounding 5G technology has begun to wane. In 2023, the anticipated rapid advancement and widespread adoption of 5G have not materialized as expected. Criticism has emerged, particularly towards Huawei, the patent holder of 5G technology. Although Huawei holds a significant number of 5G patents, its overall innovation in the field lags behind companies like Qualcomm and Samsung.

Part 3-Current State and Future of 5G

There are concerns that domestic operators are deliberately slowing down 4G speeds to force users to switch to 5G. This claim has been supported by authorities and discussed at the 5G World Conference in August 2022. Professor Sun, a software expert, highlighted that there is currently no significant application that necessitates the use of 5G, as 4G is sufficient for most activities, including streaming videos on platforms like TikTok.

Despite these challenges, the 5G development conference held in Shanghai in November 2023 presented performance reports indicating progress in the implementation of 5G applications. The development of 5G base stations and the penetration rate of 5G phones have surpassed initial targets, suggesting a continued, albeit slower, advancement of this technology.

Part 4-Conclusion

While 5G technology promised to revolutionize various sectors, its journey has been met with both enthusiasm and skepticism. As the world continues to adapt to and integrate this technology, its true potential and impact remain to be fully realized. For now, the advancements in learning, medical practices, and network technology highlight the possibilities that 5G can bring, even as its widespread adoption faces hurdles.
