Captaincy

Anger moment with teammates

Hardik's image of himself sitting by himself in the dugout after Sunday's loss to the Rajasthan Royals enraged Harbhajan. The former cricket player claimed that Hardik has been left on his own and that things do not appear good for the team or the captaincy choice. "The visuals don't seem very excellent.

"Hardik Pandya Has Been Left Alone": Former Indian Player Scorches 'Big Personalities' Among Birmingham IndiansHardik Pandya's refusal to skipper the Mumbai Indians in the 2024 Indian Premier League infuriated Harbhajan Singh.

Harbhajan Singh, a former spinner for the Indian cricket team, expressed his ire at the Mumbai Indians players for refusing to accept Hardik Pandya as captain for the 2024 Indian Premier League. Prior to the start of the new season, Hardik took over as MI captain from Rohit Sharma, although the team has lost three straight games while he was in charge. Hardik's image of himself sitting by himself in the dugout after Sunday's loss to the Rajasthan Royals enraged Harbhajan. The former cricket player claimed that Hardik has been left alone and that the team's circumstances and the choice of captain do.

"The visuals don't seem very excellent. It's just the two of them. He ought to be recognized as the team's captain by the players. The group should remain together as the choice has already been taken. The situation is not looking good, having played for this franchise," Harbhajan stated following the game on Star Sports.

During the panel discussion, Ambati Rayudu, a former MI star, questioned if Hardik's teammates were causing him to appear "confused" and "not work freely". It appears that "big personalities in the dressing room" are preventing Hardik from exercising his captaincy freely, Harbhajan retorted.

"There are several team members who are confusing him; I'm not sure if that's deliberate or accidental. The dominant characters in the locker room are impeding his ability to function as a captain. For any captain, this is not a pleasant scenario to be in, he continued.

Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, however, feels that if Rohit Sharma had been selected captain of the Mumbai Indians by the BCCI for the T20 World Cup last year, Hardik Pandya would not have taken his spot.

At a function in Ahmedabad in February of this year, BCCI secretary Jay Shah appointed Rohit captain of India's unnamed T20 World Cup team, nearly two months after he was replaced.

"The team would not have selected Hardik as captain for the T20 World Cup in October if the BCCI had appointed Rohit as captain. Respect for the franchise is at stake. Thus, time is really the problem here, Sidhu stated in the "Star Sports Press Room."

In addition to losing all three of the current IPL games—including the one at MI's home field of Wankhede—Pandya has been the target of animosity from the crowd.

Sidhu stated that given how well-liked Rohit is by the cricket community, the supporters' outcry is justified.

"It is incomprehensible to everyone that our franchise's captain is not the national hero and captain of India. "What has he done wrong?" is likely what fans of the franchise are asking themselves. However, what needs to he do? Nothing is more successful than success. He noted that there wouldn't have been any noise if he had won these two bouts.

It was the Mumbai Indians' first game at the Wankhede stadium in front of home fans, so they had high expectations for their performance. But when they showed up, their performance was quite different and didn't fit their daring play style. Even though the entire team had a disastrous game, skipper Hardik Pandya is the target of criticism and trolling on social media once more.
