If you’ve lived a squeaky-clean, God-approved life, but suddenly mid-life crisis has you wondering how it feels to live as a criminal, you definitely should cut your bangs and color your hair pink instead. But, if you insist on amping things up to thwart a boring mid-life crisis and switch the Bible for a getaway car, you need a great playlist. The right music adds excitement and exhilaration to any high-speed police pursuit, at least until the boys in blue ram your car, tase you, throw the handcuffs on your wrists, and haul you off to jail for the next 20+ years.

1. On The Road Again: Every good getaway playlist includes a Willie Nelson song, and ‘On The Road Again’ is the perfect tune for nostalgia and adrenaline as you’re speeding away from the cops. Willie’s calm voice helps to navigate those sharp turns and allows you to ignore the flashing lights of the police car racing behind you like a pro. Besides, this likely is the last time you will be on the road behind the wheel of a vehicle for some time. Make the most of it.

2. Breakin’ The Law: You’ll feel like a real badass speeding away from the cops as this Judas Priest jam plays. You’ll forget that you’re not a real criminal and suddenly feel like a real-life Frank Abagnale Jr. as the words from this 1980 song whine through your speakers.

3. Lithium: Forty seconds into this Nirvana song, your rebellious side takes a new turn, one beyond comprehension. Your foot mashes the gas pedal with force, and determination to get away, to win the race, runs through your veins. You’ll be happy-angry and ready to smash guitars the second you hear Kurt scream, “Yeahhhhh, Yeeaahhhh.” Just don’t crash your car. Lithium should be part of your getaway playlist if you want to feel like a real badass refusing to conform to society.

4. Move Bitch: Without Move Bitch on your playlist, your police chase will be dull and boring. Put the excitement back in the chase with this Ludacris song. As the beat to Move Bitch drops and the lyrics get your adrenaline pumping, you’ll suddenly feel like a race car driver, twisting, turning, and maneuvering through traffic, unapologetically and assertively urging others to get the hell out of your way. Let’s hope you aren’t stuck in traffic like Luda and Mystikal; otherwise, expect the boys in blue to walk right up to your car and pull you on out.

5. Life is a Highway: Life is a Highway by Tom Petty deserves a spot on your getaway playlist. You won’t get to ride it all night long before the police catch you, but until then, the upbeat melody will push you forward on the highway, forgetting momentarily that the police are in hot pursuit behind you. You may even reminisce about Mater from the Disney movie, Cars, as this tune plays.  Too bad you're not in make-believe Radiator Springs.

6. The Heat is On: This Glenn Frey song featured on the soundtrack for the 1984 blockbuster movie “Beverly Hills Cop” has a high-energy, groovy beat needed during a police pursuit. The Heat is On has a groovy beat that fills you with energy and keeps you in the zone while navigating the obstacles involved in a high-speed pursuit.

7. Wanted, Dead or Alive: Life on the Edge, that’s what this Bon Jovi song is all about. Wanted Dead or Alive is your song of defiance. You’re a cowboy, your steel horse prancing the highway of risk and consequence, ready to experience the thrill of the escape. Turn up the volume on this one!

8. Bad Boys: From the second the beat drops, this song by Inner Circle will transport your mind; you become the badass, now the star of your own episode of “Cops.” As the reggae groove bounces through your car speakers, your true rebellious nature shines brightly!

So, there you have it: an eight-song high-speed police pursuit playlist ready to rock your getaway and ensuing arrest. Let's hope you hear some of these tunes from behind bars, just for the nostalgia.
