I SURVIVED POLYOMYELITIS - EX TETRAPLEGIC

By Georgenes MedeirosPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

From these words, I write my story for those who still don't know me.

Nobody believes and I don't think even my close friends know this side of my story, but I was once quadriplegic. My story is not about feeling sorry or being amazed, but about showing you my true overcoming. Everything I'm telling you here were facts that my late mother, Dona Francisca told me and my aunts told me. I really don't remember well, my last memories are of me being admitted to a hospital in the clinics in São Paulo and not being able to move from the neck down.

My name is Georgenes, I am from Caico, a city in Brazil, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte; my family came to Rio de Janeiro I think I was about 6 to 7 years old, the history of northeastern people is always repeated, my very poor father came to look for a job and then my mother followed with 3 small children and one in her belly , the only Carioca, already deceased..

I had Polio when I was 3 years old, at the time there was an epidemic in some cities here in Brazil, today I am 53 years old, I feel recovered despite the sequelae. But as doctors reported at the time, that I would never walk again, as I had hit my spine, luckily they were wrong. Gradually I was recovering.

I remember as a child that I was waiting for someone to enter the hospital room to turn around because I couldn't do it alone, the position was always facing a wall, a very exhausting situation...

I did a lot of treatments in this hospital and it got to a point, as my mother used to say, that she couldn't take me because the cost of the treatment was getting too expensive, so it was interrupted due to lack of financial conditions, but my mother, with a lot of faith, always believed that I would walk..

One day she told me that she came home and I was walking with a broom handle. I imagine the joy of a mother who had a quadriplegic child. Anyway, it wasn't my happy ending yet, I have a lot of things to finish in this world. One of them is to start the ANGEL PROJECT.

I am a father of three children, Gabriel, Gianni and Ana the youngest who has lived with me since she was 2 years old, I am a single father at the moment. I raise my 13-year-old daughter, Ana, the youngest, alone. I managed to graduate in business administration from the Estácio de Sa college. I was a telemarketer, banker, call center supervisor and currently, I am a sales representative for four cloud telephony companies. I manage a small chat center at home office with many challenges, currently sales are not doing very well.

I'm not retired yet, despite having entered for length of service for the person with a disability and waiting for two years. Unfortunately, the rules for retiring in Brazil change all the time. It was denied by the INSS and I will have to apply again.

I have a youtube channel where I teach with tutorials how to earn cryptocurrencies, trade and other ways of earning at home office, the channel is still very small and little known, called IndieWire | Digital Business.

In order not to extend myself further, my main objective is to do a postgraduate degree in my area but a master's degree to teach in college, in addition to having capital to invest in my company, hire people to work at home office, and help my family .

A second project that inspires me a lot and that doesn't leave my mind would be to surprise people who need help, I believe we can be angels in someone's life, God sends help where we don't expect it, this is my main objective. The project is called ANGEL PROJECT.

I believe in the power of attraction and at this moment my projection for the next few days is close.

I live in Brazil in Santissimo Neighborhood in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.

I hope you like the story and choose me for the challenge.
