Be Careful about Posting Videos on Social Media

Making Money on Social Media

By Ferrari KingPublished 5 months ago 3 min read

A lot of people hope to make money on social media sites such as YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram and others and that is not a bad idea and you most likely will succeed given enough time if you are not me but there are dangers. I am mostly not talking about the horrid comments you get from trolls. I usually find them funny since at least on YouTube you have an option to filter out certain words and their comments will not show up on your video. You will still have to delete them since you need to approve them but that's usually not a big deal. Weak minded people trying to be hurtful as if they actually mattered to me is just hilarious.

Remember as George Carlins reminded us during one of his stand up routines is the fact that the average IQ of the general population is just average (obviously) but as he reminded us is that the other half is dumber than that. This means that more than half our population is either average or well below average. What I am getting at is this; you can make satirical videos and write satire in the description and one your video and most people will not figure it out. They will comment, stitch or make rebuttal videos to you and leave nasty comments. A women on TikTok makes her living making these videos and she even had a video were she brags about to her parents because she was born without consent. Her videos and about me section clearly state her video are satire but people do not figure it out. If you are as strong as her than go for it. I made a satirical video mocking evil managers, I also wrote an article about evil manages and corporations, and no one figured it that is was satire. You have to be careful or you can also get doxed. A woman reads Reddit stories and her description plainly says Reddit stories and she starts off by stating she gets her videos from Reddit but she did a video about a woman getting married and wanted her father to pay for the wedding but not give her away. Well because people are not too bright they found her bridal shop and Instagram page and sent her tons of hate. Not once did those geniuses figure out it was a Reddit story. I saw a stitch of her video and went to her page, I do not leave nasty comments for any reason, and it did not take me long to figure out it was a Reddit story. As I just mentioned I do not leave nasty comments on any videos and will simply scroll away and the same with anything I interact with but I will leave positive comments when I like something. I am simply not capable of the same cruelty and heartlessness most people are capable of, thankfully.

No matter what type of video you make there are people that will purposely get offended or find something wrong. There are too many examples and one is were a man is building a deck and his wife mentions that he didn't realize his daughter's nail grew but that was all the wife mentioned in her video and did nothing to actually put down her husband and I will admit she should have been more careful but she got more hate than deserved.

Also remember that people are very unforgiving but expect to be forgiven if they do something wrong, assuming they actually admit to it so as you can imagine there are people who have had their online presence ruined do to a mistake that could have been forgiven. People simply cannot tell satire or jokes even if it is spelled out for them and many people offend way too easy. People offending easily is not a generational thing either since Gen X and older generations seem to get offended as easily as Gen Z.and younger generations.

Social media is an excellent way to make money but just be careful. Never use your real name or have any way for them to find your name. Do not give any bread crumbs such as photos of your house, name of city or anything else. If you have a personal Facebook than set it to private. Anything you have that is not meant to be shared with the public needs to be private but even they should never have your city, date of birth or photos of your house. Please note trying to make money on social media and the responses you may get most likely will not be as bad as I put here but be careful.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.
