Village of Kuldhara in India

Numerous houses spread over the vast area of the village. But there are no people in any of them. For almost 300 years standing Kuldhara! Folklore has it that this thriving village in Rajasthan was deserted overnight.

Many claim that the unsatisfied soul wanders in the uninhabited Kuldhara! Tried to settle there, but had to face various ghostly horrors. This is also the demand of the locals.

Kuldhara can be seen in the desert about 18 km west of Jaisalmer, the city of the golden fort. It was once known as the settlement of Palibal Brahmins. But today their descendants are no longer seen.

No people can be seen in Kuldhara. However, the government has made arrangements so that the place does not become desolate. Nowadays it is under the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). ASI has arranged the entry of tourists by buying tickets.

But Kuldhara was once crowded. Why is this situation in the village? Various Munis have different views on this. According to many, Salim Singh, the prime minister of Jaisalmer during the Rajaraja era, had his eye on the village chief's daughter. Salim wanted to forcefully marry her. He also warned the villagers for that. Salim gets what he wants. He also warned that the results will not be good if the village head's daughter is not handed over to him. Otherwise, he threatened to increase the rent of the villagers.

Realizing the danger, the Palibal Brahmins quickly sat in a meeting with the 85 village councils. It was decided there that the residents would leave the village overnight to save the village chief's daughter from Salim. That is what Kuldhara did. The village was empty in one night. There is no sign of life in this village except for a few trees. But the crowd of curious tourists continues.

In the story of Salim and the village chief's daughter, many have also found a love affair. They claim that Salim wanted to marry the village chief's daughter after falling in love with her. But the villagers were not happy with it. Before leaving the village, they killed the girl to protect the honor of the family.
Like another group, they were fed up with Salim collecting such high rents from the villagers. But he could not oppose Salim's decision. Therefore, the villagers left Kuldhara and settled elsewhere.

Many tourists step into Kuldhara due to its mystery. They said that the Sar Sar houses in Kuldhara are still almost intact. The rice of some houses was blown away, but the mud walls did not fall. However, many claim to have had an uncomfortable feeling there.

Locals claim that even today the unsatisfied spirit of the village chief's daughter wanders in Kuldhara. Although the debate continues today. But apart from folklore there are mentions of Kuldhara in history. In the 13th century, the inhabitants settled in Kuldhara village in Jaisalam area from the city of Pali in Rajasthan. In 1815 it is said to have been deserted.

In the book 'Tarikh-e-Jaisalmer' written by Lakshmi Chand in 1899, various information about Kuldhara is available. It is written that a Palibal Brahmin named Karhan first started living in this village. Originally the Brahmins of the Palibal community of Jodhpur lived in this village. Along with agriculture, they used to earn through trade.

At least 410 houses in Kuldhara are almost dilapidated. Along with that, three tombs were also found. There are several wells. But there are no people to fill it with water. 300 years ago, people disappeared from that prosperous village overnight. Why? There is no lack of public opinion about it!
