Charmaine was not expecting the weather to be so angry when she stepped outside tonight. The weather had been warm, sunny and calm all day, even the birds had sang their sweet chorus, and the crickets had joined in.

She had decided to go for a walk in the fresh air. She was sure that it would be as pleasant as it had been during the day.

It had stayed pleasant until she had found herself lost on Woodland Lane. Woodland Lane wasn't very well-lit, and it was a countryside lane that was bordered by fields and trees. There were no houses, just plenty of pleasant countryside and animals that grazed in the field. She had taken a wrong turn, which had led her deep into the depths of Cherry Woods. Cherry Woods wasn't a safe place to be at night, there was no lighting and it was a bumpy Woodland area where tree roots spewed out everywhere. She had to be careful of where she walked, otherwise, she could have a nasty accident.

She heard rumbles of thunder in the distance, though she didn't think that it would last long as it was quiet. Suddenly, the rumbles got closer and it started to lightning. She didn't think much of it; she just paced herself thinking she might get out of the woods before the weather took a turn for the worst.

She was too late.

The rumbling started bellowing through the entire woods before she could think, and the lightning was bolting across the sky brighter, and hitting the ground harder by the second. It set the trees on fire and burned holes into the ground, lifting everything its forked fingers could grab.

The wind had taken up so much violent speed, and she was thrown into the air a few times. She hit the ground hard, and she had to slow her pace. The rain was coming down heavier and heavier, and she felt deep puddles under her feet. She knew she had to try and get out of there.

She thought that she could see the faces of ghosts in the lightning strikes, and she could hear loud, evil cackles of laughter from thousands of ghosts.

The wind howled heavily, and the fire was spreading. Her heart rate had speeded up now, and beads of sweat trickled down her face. She spluttered as bellows of smoke wafted past her and tried to find a way out. She tried three different turns, but somehow she always ended up back where she started.

She found an old cabin in the woods, and she saw that a light had been switched on; desperate for a break, she knocked on the door. She knocked five times, but there was no reply, so she pushed the door open.

She knew that someone must have lived there because an old black and white television had been switched on in a corner of the lounge, but she saw no signs of life. She found a tattered old couch and sat down on it. She needed rest. Her feet and legs felt numb, and her hands were painfully sore and blistered from the scorching heat of the fires she had escaped.

She tried to get some sleep, but no sooner had she closed her eyes than she was suddenly thrown across the room, smashing her back straight into a wall.

The whole cabin was spinning in the air as if a tornado had lifted it.

She was shaking with fear, and her body was badly bruised from being flung around so much. She begged it to stop, but the weather was ignorant to the cries of living beings. It didn't care whether people got hurt; it carried its anger like a poltergeist, directing its horrific blows at whoever and whatever it could.

There was a set of carving knives laid out on a bench, and the wind put the cabin window threw causing them to fly directly at her. She only just managed to dodge them.

The wind calmed down for a few seconds, so she looked out of the gap where the cabin window had been. She screamed in horror as she saw the whole wood had been engulfed in flames.

She knew that she was next.

The entire sky was lit up by bright, white, and blue lightning which was now striking everything in sight at light speed.

She knew there was no way out, but she had to try.

She knew that she was taking a huge risk, but she climbed out of the window. However, she had just managed to get one leg out of the window when a huge gust of wind hit her. It threw her into a twister in the air, and everything in her sight had disappeared. Lightning engulfed her body, sending hot electricity straight to her bones. Her entire body had not been able to stand the pain as the strikes ripped straight through her, scattering her body parts throughout the now flood-stricken wood.

Nobody tried to save her or heard her cries for help.

Charmaine had become a victim of the grieving night air, which had been grieving the loss of it's own life, and had taken many other lives in return.
