I woke up in a panic. Grabbing my stuff and shoving it in my bag, all I could think of was that I had to get higher. Bellatrix, my dog, gave a warning that they were getting closer.

We grab our stuff and were out faster than you could say 'fuck.' Thankfully this supply run was on the edge of the city. Which means it’s easy to get away. We start to jump down from the roof tops on the way out by jumping down on ledges. Hit the ground and off into the forest.

This is no Amazon forest but this might as well be. One hour, six miles later I'm finally getting back to my hiding place. I've hid here for about 7 years now. The view on the ground is perfect; off of a mountain of trees- with a lake as a front yard. Open, yet still ways to hide from being in sight. Able to go for swim and to bath without being seen.

Half way up the cliff finding a cave, and surrounded ounded by the perfect trees to build a house. A house in the trees- practically a treefort. But its perfect enough to have a large enough bed, somehwere to paint and a spot to have doggo to pay. I have built this place so well, hidden and in the most perfect spot where I don't need to go far to live.

7 years earlier.

At home in my studio vibing with painting when Max came home early in a frantic; "Jess? Where are you?!"

"Hey, what's going on? Why are you freaking out?"

"It's happened- We need to go!"

"What are you talking about? You're scaring me>"

"It's finally happened. The government has fallen. They took out the Prime Minister and burned down the paralment."

"What the fuck," I have no idea what to even say to something like that. What do you even say? or do.

I helped Max grab suit cases and a couple of bins and grabbed this we only need. We grabbed only the most important things. We only ended up with a suitcase each with a back pack and a bin each. In less then an hour we were gone and out of there.

We get in the care and start driving. I'm unsure how we managed it but we got out of the country. We made it to South America. It took use about 8 days to get there. On the way to the Amazon, we've noticed that something seemed off. The fact of how easy it was going through the boarders.

We learned that it wasn't just the Canadian government that fell. The governments in general- The entire world's government has fallen. Max and I just look just look at each other in disbelief.

"Would you like to finish telling me what is happening? You said it was just our government-"

"I didn't say that! I said someone took out the Prime Minister and Parliament has been burned down."

"Did you about the rest of the world?"

"Not exactly, I was following what was happening here. I've seen videos of other places burning- just thought it was fake or old news. I didn't exactly put two and two together."

"What are we going to do now, Max?

"Well, here's the time you get what you want live off the grid!" Max tried to sarcastic and funny-

- He wasn't that funny. I rolled my eyes, sighed and pointed my body straight forward to the dashboard.

We made it to the Amazon and we did the hike to find the perfect spot. Two days later we found that and started climbing and building a place to live. Knowing the world has come to an end and has fallen- it would be best to build something efficient, up and out of the way from others passing by.

Climbing up into the house being careful to make sure no one is following or watching where I am going.

"Were followed?" Max asked cautiously.

"No."

"What took you so long?"

"I'm sorry, supply run took longer than I thought." I'm empting out my bag as Max is filling up a water bowl for Bellatrix.

"You found a book store and fell asleep on the roof again, didn't you?"

"What--"

"We agreed to stay out of city limits, remember?"

"I was being careful."

"You can be super careful and still get caught."

"I know!"

"You know they'll just snatch up people, babe. We talked about this."

For awhile we had access to a radio. Learned that the goverments had fallen. Which meant that there was no more authorities. It didnt take long before the world became divided; The rich and the poor- not that the world was already divided like this already. This was different.

Even though there was no government, there was still money and status. You were either rich or a servent working for the rich. There is no way out of this. Unless you managed to get out. Once you were out- you usually stayed out- unless you get caught by coming in any city or town limits.

"We live so far in the forest and well hidden that they wont search for us," Max trying to comfort me after seeing how anxious I became from listening to this.

The first year we have spent the time and energry to build a house gives us everything we need- we truley learned what it means to be off the gride.

~

"We have a trady- they can't come into the forest to snatch us up anyways-"

"They can if you consistently running into the city, they most certainly can," Max annoyed with me and came over to help me put away the supplies a managed to get from the city.

Most of the supplies was mostly first aid supplies and stuff for the cupboards; "I see you managed to snag art supplies and a few new books."

"I also managed to get you a few manga books and a new (video) game"

"Thank you, babe," still annoyed but also gratful for the suprises in the supplie run.

They were in the middle of kissing when there was a scream and two gun shots in the distance.
