A TALE OF HOLLOW MAN

HORROR NIGHTMARE

By Syed Hammad HussainPublished 2 days ago 3 min read

In the small town of Willow Creek, nestled deep in the woods, there was a legend whispered among the locals—a tale of the Hollow Man. He was said to be a figure draped in tattered black robes, his face hidden behind a mask of darkness. No one knew where he came from or why he haunted the forests, but those who crossed his path were never seen again.

One stormy night, Mia, a curious teenager with a penchant for ghost stories, gathered her friends for a dare that would change their lives forever. They huddled together in the warmth of Mia's family cabin, nestled on the edge of the eerie woods that surrounded Willow Creek. Outside, thunder rumbled ominously, and the wind howled through the trees like a chorus of lost souls.

Mia's friends, Sarah, Ben, and Jake, exchanged nervous glances as she recounted the legend of the Hollow Man. "They say he roams these woods," Mia whispered dramatically, her eyes shining with excitement. "Tonight, we find out if it's true."

Sarah shivered, pulling her sweater tighter around her shoulders. "Are you sure about this, Mia? It sounds dangerous."

Mia shrugged off her friend's concerns with a grin. "Come on, don't tell me you're scared? It's just a story!"

But deep down, even Mia felt a twinge of unease. The stories had always been just that—stories. But tonight, with the storm raging outside and the forest cloaked in shadows, the legend seemed to hold a weight that Mia couldn't ignore.

With flashlights in hand and hearts pounding with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, the four friends ventured into the woods. The rain poured down in sheets, turning the forest floor into a muddy quagmire. Every crack of thunder made them jump, and every rustle of leaves sent a chill down their spines.

Hours passed as they stumbled through the tangled underbrush, their flashlights cutting feeble paths through the darkness. The forest seemed alive with strange whispers and eerie shadows that danced just beyond the reach of their lights. Mia led them confidently, though her bravado was beginning to wane.

Suddenly, they stumbled upon a clearing unlike any they had seen before. In its center stood a solitary oak tree, its branches twisted and leafless. Hanging from its lowest branch was a rusted lantern, swinging gently in the wind.

As they approached, a chill swept through the clearing, extinguishing their flashlights one by one. Panic set in as darkness enveloped them. Mia's friends called out to her, their voices echoing endlessly, distorted and eerie.

Then, from the shadows emerged a figure clad in black robes, its face obscured by a mask of emptiness. The Hollow Man stood before them, silent and imposing. Mia's heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to move, her body frozen with fear.

One by one, Mia's friends vanished into the darkness, their screams swallowed by the night. She tried to run, but her feet felt rooted to the ground. The Hollow Man approached slowly, each step echoing like a death knell.

Just as he reached out to touch her, Mia jolted awake, drenched in sweat and gasping for air. The room was silent, bathed in the soft glow of the streetlights outside her window. She clutched her blankets tightly, trying to shake off the lingering dread.

But as she glanced towards the window, a faint reflection caught her eye—a masked figure standing motionless in the darkness, just beyond the glass.

Mia's heart raced as she stared into the empty eyes of the Hollow Man, realizing with horror that the nightmare might not be over after all.
