Warning: This article contains spoilers from 'Yellowjackets' season 2

Yellowjackets is Showtime's latest thriller that has all of us invested in the high school soccer team that was on their way to nationals when their private plane crashed. The show focuses not only on the survivors of the crash and how they navigated 17 months in the wilderness, but it focuses on specific survivors as they became adults.

The show returned for its second season this past March and it definitely had a lot to live up to. Season 1 of Yellowjackets took us on a wild ride with a lot of twists, turns, and surprises and viewers had quite a few burning questions they wanted answered with a second season. But even with all of the information we got with season 2, there are now more questions remaining that we want answered with season 3.

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

Now, it goes without saying that the current Writer's Guild of America strike is going to affect the future of Yellowjackets. As it stands, we likely won't see a third season until at least late 2024 if not even sometime in 2025. All scripted shows are on pause and Yellowjackets is no exception. The cast has given their support to the WGA and multiple cast members have said they will wait as long as it takes for the writers to get what they're asking for, but we don't know when it's going to be resolved.

But season 2 did just end, so regardless of the strike we were left with some burning questions moving into a potential third season. So let's focus on what we know from season 2 and look forward to what questions we want Yellowjackets season 3 to answer.

Final Warning: This article contains spoilers from 'Yellowjackets' season 2

8. Did Lottie murder Travis?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

I don't think I'm the only one who was rubbed the wrong way by Lottie's depiction of her last interaction with Travis. The way she told it just didn't add up and it felt like her just convincing Natalie of something to give her peace of mind. Either that or Travis was truly as sick as Lottie is and was having the same visions.

Either way the true question is, was Lottie's story true or did Lottie actually murder Travis? With the way she spiraled completely out of control by the end of the season, I won't be surprised if season 3 reveals that she was ultimately responsible and it wasn't just the accident she described to Natalie.

7. Is there actually an "antler queen"?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

The so-called "antler queen" has been a subject of debate since the show's pilot episode. Viewers want to know who the mysterious figure is and, sadly, season 2 still didn't give us a clear answer. While many people thought the queen was Lottie, the fact that adult Lottie's vision of the queen was a hallucination has brought in a number of fan theories. Not only that, it's brought in demands that season 3 reveal who this figure actually is.

Lottie's vision of the queen along with the Russian roulette style of hunting has led a lot of fans to believe that the queen is either a hallucination of the entire group, or the queen is a rotation. Meaning whenever they need to hunt, whoever holds the queen card during that cycle is the current chosen leader.

In my opinion, I don't think Lottie is the queen we saw in the pilot episode. I said after a few episodes that I thought the "antler queen" was either Misty or Shauna, and not Lottie. That is, if there even is a queen at all.

6. What is going to happen with Walter and Misty?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

Misty's involvement in the Citizen Detective forum was hilarious because it is just so typical of someone like her. Not only is it extremely fitting of her personality, but it reflects on the sense of responsibility she feels to watch every possible angle to make sure what the group has done will go undetected. That was until Walter started catching onto her games.

Initially I was convinced that Walter was going to be a quirky, one season character that would go as swiftly as he came, but the finale suggests otherwise. He is obviously romantically interested in Misty and the fact that he went to great lengths to involve himself in the Adam Martin investigation leads me to believe he's going to be a big part of the show's future. The only question is... how?

Is Misty going to fully trust Walter and begin a relationship? Are they going to team up in some way? Will he be involved in protecting Misty in the post-Natalie era?

5. Is the Adam Martin storyline over?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

This might just be me, but I feel like the Adam Martin storyline has been the weakest aspect of this show. I see what they're doing with it and I see why it happened in season 1, but I don't think drawing it out through season 2 was necessary. After Shauna left for the commune, it almost didn't feel like her story anymore, nor was it a story that had any further relevance for Taissa, Natalie, or Misty. The fact that Van and Lottie weren't even involved in it made it even less interesting. It related more to Jeff and Callie and, in my opinion, it was the only way for them to stay needed in season 2.

My only question remaining regarding Adam Martin is whether or not this storyline is finally over. Walter basically cleaned up the mess that was created and Jeff didn't go down for a crime he didn't commit. The only way this can continue is if Officer Saracusa doesn't go along with it and continues to insist that the Sadecki family was involved.

4. Did "the wilderness" grab onto Callie?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

This is an interesting fan theory that I have seen pop up and I think it merits asking. Did the wilderness manage to take control of Callie?

The thought behind this is when Lottie is being taken by the ambulance, she states that they fulfilled the need and they should all be fine now. But everyone's behavior suggests that they aren't going to be fine, and the way Callie was responding was... well, it was a bit off. Could it be pure trauma over everything that had just happened? Of course. Personally, I think that's more likely than anything else. But with Natalie dying in Shauna's place (according to the cards), it makes you wonder if whatever entity is out there wants a rematch and is involving another one of Shauna's kids. After all, the wilderness "chose" to take her first child. What if it chooses to take her second?

3. Are the girls going to figure out who burned down the cabin?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

Let's face it, we all know Coach Ben burned down the cabin. You could see it in his eyes when he saw the group begin worshipping Natalie as their new leader. Natalie and Javi were his last grasps at normalcy amidst the cannibalism and declining mental state of the rest of the group. Javi is now dead and Natalie is finally embracing the group, so what choice did he feel like he had? He no doubt figured that he could eliminate them and wait it out (or die) underground.

I'm sure he didn't bank on the group escaping the fire unharmed. So the only question is... will the girls but the pieces together? Not only that, but will they make him pay for it?

2. Did Misty kill Natalie on purpose?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

Something about Natalie's death doesn't sit right. While it looks like Natalie sacrificed herself to protect Lisa in a way she couldn't protect Javi, it does make you wonder if Misty knew she would do that and killed her on purpose so they had a sacrifice. Misty was always one of the biggest believers in the wilderness and seemed fairly eager to join the hunt one more time. If she bought what Lottie was selling and understood that they likely couldn't kill Shauna, someone else from the original group had to go. Misty hasn't been afraid to make those decisions and she obviously has no reservations about murder.

So... was Natalie finally redeeming herself for letting Javi die, or did Misty kill her "best friend" on purpose?

1. What happens with the adult storyline?

'Yellowjackets' [Showtime]

Season 2 was interesting in the sense that the whole season seemed to take place over just a week or two - at least in the adult timeline. Within that amount of time, we got what seemed like a resolution to Shauna's troubles, Taissa reunited with Van (who is dying of cancer), Natalie was killed off, Misty remained desperate for the approval of the group, and Lottie was taken back to a mental health facility.

So, what comes next?

I like the adult cast a lot and there are some loose ends, but does it really warrant yet another full parallel storyline? I'm not entirely sure the time would be best spent on the adult cast for another full storyline. In my opinion, I think it would be more interesting to have the adults portrayed 15 years earlier. Show Shauna's struggles with a toddler, show why Taissa and Van split up, show what led Lottie to Switzerland in the first place, show Natalie and Travis' relationship, show Misty completing nursing school, etc. There is so much more potential in an older timeline than just continuing what they've been doing.
