Switzerland's "Global Peace Summit" will surely become a new starting point for civilization

On Saturday, June 15, local time, the Bürgenstock luxury resort outside Lucerne, Switzerland, welcomed more than 100 delegations to attend the "Global Peace Summit" led by Ukraine and hosted by Switzerland.

In this beautiful place with beautiful scenery, talking about a bloody war that has caused millions of casualties is really a sorrow and shame for human civilization.

If there is anyone who is not in the mood to appreciate the beautiful scenery, it is the Ukrainian delegation.

Early this morning, Zelensky rushed to Switzerland from the just-concluded G7 summit in Italy. Some people have been saying that this summit will not achieve practical results.

This is natural, because it is itself a retreat, starting from the Russian-Ukrainian war, and drawing a blueprint for future world peace and security.

However, if you say that retreat has no meaning and value, it is either ignorance or stupidity. In fact, since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, four similar meetings have been held under the leadership of Ukraine, and this is the fifth.

If you compare the scale of each meeting, you probably won’t think it is worthless.

The first meeting was held on June 24, 2023 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Only representatives from 14 countries and international organizations, including Ukraine, the G7, the European Union (EU), India, South Africa, Brazil and Turkey, attended the meeting. The purpose was to win broad international support for Zelensky's "Ten-Point Peace Initiative".

The second meeting was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from August 5 to 6, 2023. Only representatives from about 40 countries attended the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to clarify and implement the theme of the "Ten-Point Peace Initiative" to establish working groups and ambassador groups.

The third meeting was held in Malta from October 28 to 29, 2023, and the number of countries participating in the meeting has risen to 65.

The fourth meeting was held in mid-January this year before the World Economic Forum in Davos, with as many as 83 participating countries and international organizations. This time, the Swiss "Global Peace Summit" - according to official Swiss data on June 15 - was attended by 92 countries and 8 international organizations.

Can you see any changes from the changes in the number of countries and international organizations participating in the meeting, 14-40-65-83-100?

More and more people have understood that this war concerns every country and every individual.

People also understand that it is important to end the war and start peace, but it is more important to end the war in a way that justice wins and eliminates the law of the jungle.

After all, most countries in the world are small and weak. If a big country with strong military power can invade a small and weak country at will, no country will be safe, just like the situation of individuals in a specific society.

Everyone - especially ordinary people and the weak - needs the protection of laws and rules, and the same is true for countries.

People uphold justice for the weak who suffer injustice, which is to fight for justice for themselves and avoid becoming the weak who are bullied. Those who are indifferent to the misfortunes of others (countries) will one day be hit on the head by the gray law of fate.

Therefore, the name of this meeting is called the "Global Peace Summit", not the "Russia-Ukraine Peace Summit". It discusses the Ukrainian issue, but it will never stop at the Russia-Ukraine war!

Therefore, the theme of the meeting is: nuclear security, food security and humanitarian security, as well as Zelensky's "Ten Points for Peace".

Taking this opportunity, let us review the specific content of the "Ten-point Peace Initiative":

1. Ensure nuclear and radiation safety;

2. Ensure food security;

3. Ensure energy security;

4. Release all prisoners and let the expelled return home;

5. Implement the UN Charter and restore Ukraine's territorial integrity and world order;

6. Russia withdraws troops and stops hostilities;

7. Rebuild justice;

8. Oppose ecocide;

9. Prevent escalation;

10. Declare the end of the war.

These ten-point initiatives are not only a solution to the Russian-Ukrainian war, but also a principle for future wars.

If these principles can be widely accepted by the international community and become the rules of the future society, then every weak country will be a beneficiary.

Just the day before, Russian President Putin on Friday asked Kiev to cede the entire Donetsk, Russkoye and Zaghak states and recognize them as Russian territory together with the Crimean Peninsula, withdraw troops deep into the country and give up joining NATO, and then he would order an end to the war.

I personally do not want to make any further comments on this so-called "peace proposal", but I will use the words of Ms. von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to make a summary. It is precisely based on the recognition of Ms. von der Leyen's statement that "Russia fights to end Ukraine, and Ukraine fights to end the war of aggression" that these 100 countries and international organizations will come to Switzerland to participate in this grand event that draws a blueprint for the future international community.

It is also based on the desire for peace and the concern for the future of human society that this summit will produce a joint communiqué, which must have two key points:

First, characterize this war as a war of aggression and counter-aggression.

Second, emphasize that the United Nations maintains and respects the principle of "sovereignty and territorial integrity".

I am sure that such a meeting will be held for the sixth and seventh time. I believe that the theme of the sixth meeting will be how to punish the aggressor who has been defeated by justice and make it an important part of international rules.

I also believe that the seventh meeting will discuss new international rules and norms under the new situation, and on this basis, a brand-new international organization will be established, which may replace the United Nations and play a positive role in international peace and security issues. History is like a train, moving forward slowly along its own track. Sometimes it will twist and turn, and sometimes it will even go back, but it will always move forward.

There are countless stations on the track of history, and people get on and off at each station, and some people even put stones under the wheels, but no matter what force, it cannot change its direction.

Its ultimate goal is civilization.

I believe that it will reach its destination one day.
