Drawing Day

When words fail, art speaks.

By SUGANYA RPublished 2 months ago 3 min read

May 16th is Drawing Day, and the best way to mark the occasion is to express oneself via drawings of everything and everything. Did you know that the art of sketching has a strong connection to our past? On the walls of their caves, even non-verbal cavemen drew hunting scenes. A simple notepad and pencil or a tablet and stylus are just two examples of the many contemporary instruments available to us today that may help us make incredibly realistic and creative drawings.

The Drawing Day's Past

Records of drawings date back to approximately 10,000 B.C. These drawings were found on carvings found in prehistoric European caves. The ancient Egyptians drew pictures from their everyday life on their temples circa 3000 B.C. Similar pen-and-ink images might also be found in the written transcripts from that time period. Greek clay jars were also decorated with elaborate drawings of figures and patterns. Animal hides and wooden boards were used by mankind for writing, drawing, and painting before paper was developed.

IDEAS FOR MARRYING DRAWING DAY

Attend a painting class.

These days, a lot of drawing workshops are offered online for either free or a very small fee. Depending on your ability level, you can choose between a beginner, intermediate, or expert level workshop.

Make a sketchbook.

Drawing is an excellent method to maintain mental stimulation and enhance focus. Get out your doodle book and start drawing the next time you're bored or finding it difficult to concentrate at work!

With your friends, engage in sketching games.

Many board games and internet apps exist, such as Pictionary, in which a player draws an object and the other players attempt to guess what it is. You can play this enjoyable team game in person or virtually.

International Drawing Day is on May 16. It's a chance for people to celebrate sketching everywhere.

It's crucial for schools to observe International Drawing Day because it promotes self-expression, creativity, and cultural understanding. Students who draw are better able to communicate clearly, think creatively, and solve issues graphically. Schools recognize the worldwide appeal of drawing and its capacity to bridge cultural divides by designating a day for it. Additionally, it instills in students a respect for many artistic traditions and styles. In the end, International Drawing Day fosters in children the critical abilities and global perspective necessary for success in the contemporary environment.

How to Enjoy #DrawingDay on International Drawing Day

I'm happy to have any justification to promote art education and emphasize its significance. Here are a few simple ideas to get started:

Drawing Day: On April 16, pause all assignments and have your kids create drawings. You may arrange a still life or give each student a different object, such a pine cone, bark from a tree, seedpods, or something related to your ongoing project.

Drawing Competition: Set up a competition for drawing. This may be as easy as selecting a theme, supplying paper, and setting a due date. To involve the entire school, you might make this voluntary or assign it as a homework assignment to each kid. You could offer certificates or prizes.

Workshops for Drawing: Schedule

Enable students to sketch outside in the open air by taking your lessons there and letting them take inspiration from the natural world.

Joint Art Production. This website has a ton of collaborative artwork, or you could just hand each student a sheet of paper the same size, and let the presentation become the collaborative effort. How about if you provided a parcel tag for each pupil to draw on?

Art display: Organize an exceptional and imaginative drawing-focused art display inside the school. You may use categories like "Most Creative," "Most Skillful," "Most Imaginative," or "Most Creative Media" and ask students to vote for their favorites. You could offer certificates or prizes.

Invite a local artist to visit the classroom as a guest artist to share their drawing knowledge and experiences. This will inspire
