I am watching friends. What again? Yup. After watching this show over and over again, you start to notice some things. Some of the things include that Joey is a true friend, Chandler messes up a lot with his friendships, Phoebe holds the whole group together by her random comments and quirkiness, Monica is a people pleaser, Rachel is the character that grew up the most. Anyways, let’s go back to Ross, Ross is one of the Friends least liked characters on the show because bad things happen to him. The show introduces him as the guy who had his wife leave him for another woman, which is already hard enough to go through, then he is hung up on Rachel for nearly two seasons watching her date other guys and then coming close to dating and losing again. However, despite all these life changes, he still remains as one of the best friends that the group can have. Let's analyze this shall we by Season:

Season 1: in the episode "The One with the East German Laundry Detergent" Ross stands up to the lady that was being mean to Rachel in the laundromat. After she kissed Ross, he should have taken his chance with her though and he waited too long.

The episode titled "Where Nana dies Twice" Ross shows his constant support for Monica when their parents start questioning her hair style. Not only in this episode but does this happen every time that Ross and Monica see their parents together, but he also sticks up for her.

During the first season of Friends Ross takes a big step by becoming a father and he shows his endless support for Carol even though she left him to be with a woman and given the circumstances, he handles it quite well and he feels that Ben is his child even though he is no longer a love interest for Carol and Susan does not get along with him.

Season 2: Ross is a loving boyfriend to Julie, and he was finally happy with her, but after he learns about Rachel's feelings for him, he breaks up with Julie to be with Rachel. However, he does make a big mistake with the list and then there is a lot of back and forth between them.

"The one with the Lesbian Wedding" really shows what kind of Guy Ross is, Carol's parents do not want to be a part of her big day and Ross steps in and walks her down the aisle, so she would not have to do it alone. This speaks volumes to his character.

"The One with the Prom Video" Ross shows his sweet side when Rachel's prom date does not show up, he selflessly steps in to take her out to the Prom, but then is left alone after Chip shows up finally and we really see how much he cares for Rachel.

In the episode "The one Where Eddie won't move out" Ross talks to Joey about his financial decisions with his whole ceramic zoo he had happening. It was a hard to hear conversation to have with his friend, but Ross is a good friend as he tells you what you need to hear, even if it might hurt their feelings, but in the end, he helps out his friends because of his sound reasoning. Then, he paid for Joey to have the ceramic dog as a favor.

"The one with Barry and Mindy's wedding" he stands up for Rachel even though she begged him to stop, and it got her to stand up for herself.

Season 4: "The one with the Dirty Girl" Ross starts dating a stunning woman, but then he gets to her apartment and "where there is a chair, it's a pile of garbage" and he really likes her and gets along and he tried to make it through, but due to her mess, he had to break up with her. Ross is not shallow as he tries to make relationships where he sees potential work.

Moving along the season in season 5 where they all go to vegas. Ross draws on Rachel's face and since they were unable to remove the marker, he then draws on his own face, so she would not feel embarrassed.

All the way to Season 7 where Monica and Chandler get married, Ross spends all night looking for Chandler, so Monica would not have to know that Chandler had gone missing.

When Rachel and Ross move in together, Rachel makes the unreasonable request to not see anyone while she is pregnant even though we all know that it was because she was jealous, and her hormones were everywhere due to her pregnancy, and Ross just agrees to not see anyone during that time.

I think with all of the above examples it is safe to say that Ross is actually not a bad guy, he just has unfortunate luck with the way his life goes, but even all the bad things he still manages to get passed a lot of things.
