I Just Can't Get Enough Of 'One Tree Hill'

Guilty pleasured as charged!

One Tree Hill one of the best guilty binge-watching pleasures ever!

My guilty pleasure binge-watching addiction is with One Tree Hill. I just can't get enough of those Scott brothers. I have watched this show probably ten times now seasons 1-9 in its entirety, if not more.

Let's get really honest now. Do I feel guilty being a 50ish grown woman following a teenage soap? Not at all...And this is why. First off I found this show by total accident one day. My usual daily soap "Days of Our Lives" was not airing for one reason or another.

So I found myself flipping thru the television stations when I caught a glimpse of a teenage boy dribbling a basketball across a bridge to a Gavin DeGraw song. So I kept on watching. Crazy enough I tuned in during the afternoon just as one of the television stations had begun airing "One Tree Hill from season one episode one.

If you have never watched the show let me fill you in a bit. The show takes place in Tree Hill North Carolina. It revolves around the Scott brothers. Lucas Scott is the narrator and lives with his single mom Karen in the same town as his father Dan Scott who never claimed him or paid to take care of him.

Dan is very successful, married, and has a teenage son who is just a few months younger than Lucas named Nathan. Nathan is a high school basketball star, just like his father before him. He and Lucas know about each other, but do not communicate or hang out.

Lucas just also happens to be an amazing basketball player but does not play for the school. Not until his uncle Keith Scott, (Dan's older brother) talks the coach into watching Lucas play and giving him a shot to play varisty alongside...yep you know his estranged brother.

Well, there is a whole history of family jeolousy, dysfunction, and enough drama to absolutely captivate you into tuning in every day, and also binge-watching over and over again for years.

We have brother against brother, teenage love, that progresses into adult relationships long past high school. You get to follow this group from high school to their adult lives and the story just keeps getting better and better.

What draws me in other than the excellent storylines and super cute cast members is the high school atmosphere. I mean come on I went to high school too.

Nowhere did I meet anyone who all had super-rich parents who let their teens come and go as they please, no rules, curfews. These kids wore whatever they wanted to school. (Not allowed in my day.) Did whatever they wanted, when they wanted. I would have killed to have had that kind of life for just a while in high school So, yes I can honestly say I lived vicariously the best highschool experience thru the gang at Tree Hill High.

It is very much Dawson's Creek like and 90210 ish but way better drama. Not only have I remained addicted to this show and faithfully committed. I also gave up watching my grown-up soap for it. I also got my three now-adult kids and 17-year-old grandson addicted also.

Does this make me feel guilty to know someone my age is so invested in a teen drama? Not a chance. There is plenty of adult drama shows on television every night. Not only that in 2021 we also have just about every type of reality television show on every subject around to fill in, if you so choose.

Check out the One Tree Hill trailer and tell me honestly if this does not look like a show that could hook you too. No Guilt no regrets as crazy as our world has been we all need a little something to take us away from it even if it is something as little as this. Wouldn't you agree? Ps. if you want to join the One Tree Hill binge-watch guilty pleasure group you can find every season streaming on Hulu now.
