INTRODUCTION

For video game enthusiasts, gaming in 2024 is nothing short of electrifying, with fresh new releases that have gamers around the world brimming with excitement. With the advances in technology over the last 40 years alone, gaming certainly has come a long way. I remember when I was a kid, a long time ago, the Atari VCS (Video Computer System) gaming system with its large console and game cartridges such as Pac- Man, Missile Command, Asteroids, and of course we can't forget Donkey Kong. The year was 1979 when I was about 8 years old and my friend had gotten an Atari VCS For his birthday which came out two years prior in 1977, This was my first experience with video Games. Befor Atari was the Magnavox Odyssey which was released in 1972 when I was only a year old. Then there was the Nintendo Gaming Syatem which came on the scene around the year 1985. As the years went by, graphics, and gaming consoles continued to improve up to where we are right now in history.

I can also remember the ever popular Video Arcade which actually began the year I was born in 1971. That year marked the very first Video Arcade machine, by Nutting Associates and was created by Nolan Bushnell. The game was called "Computer Space", that also marked the beginning of the Video Game Arcade industry. As a young kid, and through my teen years, I spent many hours, and many quarters in and on Video Arcades.. I am really glad I had the experience of watching all this technology evolve throughout my lifetime, some, right from its very beginnings. I can remember the first cell phone and even the Commodore 64 home computer, but I digress.

We certainly have come a long way from Video Arcades to large cumbersome gaming consoles, and cartridges big bulky car phones and the Motorola Brick as it was called. Now, A cellphone/smartphone is far more powerful than the most powerful home computer in 1989 which was the 486 which typically ran at speeds of 25-100 Mega-Hertz (MHZ). A modern Smart Phone typically operates at speeds of 1.8-3.2 Giga Hertz (GHZ). Modern smart phones are thousands of times more powerful in terms of processing speeds, memory, storage, and graphical capabilities compared to the 286, 386, and 486 home computers. Again, I digress. Please excuse my trip down memory lane, as I could not help but reminisce about the facinating history of gaming, computers, and cell phones. 1.The First Decendant. This games narrative revolves around a conflict between humans and invaders, with the Decendents being humanity's last hope. The game is very detailed, and blends futuristic technology with fantasy elements. Gamers can choose from a list of Decendents, each with their own distinct skills and powers. Characters can be customized, and leveled up to suit different play roles. This is a multiplayer game, up to 4 players which can team up to complete missions together. It is a fast paced combat game with a varity of weopons, and unique abilities tied to each character. The game itself, does have a steep learning curve with some repetitive mission structures. The First Decendent was released on July 2 2024, it is a game that promises an engaging mix of action, strategy and teamwork. It is definately one worth checking out. The game is available for download and play on PC, Platstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

2.Zenless Zone Zero. This game is a free-to-play action role-playing game which was developed by HoYoverse, the same creators behind popular titles likeGenshin Impact. The game is set isn a post-apocalyptic urban fantasy world that takes place in a city called "New Eridu" which managed to survive despite a series of catastrophic events known as "Hollows." Players take on the role of Proxies that navigate through various districts, battling monsters and uncovering secrets within the Hollows. the game features a lively and stylish art design, and is a fast paced combat, and mix of exploration and narrative elements. This game does have a potentially heavy reliance on microtransactions, as well as high system requrements. The game was released on July 4, 2024 and is available on PC, Playstation 5, IOS, and Android Platforms. Another game that is definately worth looking into.

3.Ark Of Charon. This game combines elements of colony simulation and tower defense. It was developed by Angoo Inc, and SunSoft. The game requires players to guide a giant, beast-like sapling of a world tree to its nursery. As the trees caretaker, players control familiars, or golems, to build a fortified mobile fortress on the tree's back while progressing on their journey. the game involves gathering resources, constructing buildings, managing golems, and defending against relentless monster attacks. The mission is to navigate an eerie and chaotic world, build territories, Fight demon-like monstrous enemies, and uncover hidden secrets. Players navigate through various levels using their feet to kick down doors, enemies, and objects, creating a dymanic combat experience. the game's visual style is lively and gritty adding to the intensity of the game. The game has limited storyline depth, and may not appeal to all player demographics. Anger Foot was released in early access on July 5, 2024, and is available on platforms such as Linux, MacOS, and Microsoft Windows.
