Ddraig Mountain

Board Game

I created this game just for fun and I have enjoyed playing this with my family, so I thought it would be good to share. The design of it is a bit crude, but it was good enough to get the feel of the game. Feel free to print out the board and the cards, and I hope you have many hours of enjoyment.

Battle of ‘Y Ddraig Glas’

This game is ideally for three players, but six players are easily accommodated as you can have more than one player on any of the three paths as you make your way to Ddraig Mountain. You start off without your weapons, which means your battle points are not at their highest while you make your way through your chosen path, and then you get to retrieve your weapon where you will gain extra battle points and also get a chance to win extra health points before battling the King of Dragons.

Print out the action cards, player cards and the board before you start. Stick together the point scoring information on to the back of the corresponding action picture, they will print in pairs to help keep them together. You will need a dice for making your moves and for battling. You will also need a pencil and a notepad to keep track of the scoring as you go along. You can cut out a counter to mark your place as you move on each space or you can use a small playing piece from another game.

Gameplay

The king of Dragons lives on Ddraig Mountain, he has stolen all the weapons of power from our heros and keeps them locked away in his den of power, which is located before you get to the mountain. The hero's must make their way through one of 3 paths: Forest of Despair, The Dragon Run or the The Path of Emptiness. Each path has a different set of dangers, and while one may be more direct, it has more dangers to contend with. Ultimately you can try them all and hope you have enough health points left to battle the King of Dragons.

Landing on a spot

The Chance spots (which are coloured green) give you an opportunity to shake the dice and whatever number corresponds to the number thrown on the dice depends on what you receive on the Chance card. If you get stealth points, you can add these points on after you defeat the Dragon only and are counted against the other hero’s points to find the winner (the one with the most points wins).

The Golden spots give you 5 health points (straight away).

The blue spots are for doing battle.

Fighting

If they land on a blue spot, they have to fight the creature associated with the path they have taken. The hero shakes the dice first and delivers the first blow; the card with the hero’s strikes on it is used to determine what attack is used, and at this point it is the card without the weapons on it. The hero starts with 30 health points and loses points every time the enemy attacks; the attack finishes when the enemy or the hero is dead.

The Path of Emptiness

This is where the Beast of Emptiness roams. He starts off with 12 health points. When you have to cross the void, you have to land on the spot with the exact amount on the dice, and for every throw of the dice which doesn't let you land on the spot, you lose one life point.

The Dragon Run

This is where the Dragon’s minions roam. There are two different minions, the Lizard Minion and the Snake Minion. They have slightly different attacks; they each take their turn to fight, but you only have to fight one minion per spot. They only start off with 7 health points. Be careful because there are more black spots on this path.

The Forest of Despair

This is where the Black Witch lives. She starts off with 15 health points.

Den of Power

No matter what number you throw on the dice, you will stop at the Den of Power while you pick up your weapons.

Next you have 6 more spots to chance your luck, gain 5 health points or gain nothing.

Ddraig Mountain

As soon as you land here you start battle, with the hero making the first blow. Once you have defeated the Dragon, you count how many points you have left; the one with the most points wins.
