Gaming is a great source of entertainment for those looking to pass the time. You can explore vast new worlds, fight monsters, and do the impossible. If you are not careful, you will find yourself spending hours playing alongside your friends. But, you must remember to keep track of how much time you spend gaming. Too much can lead to negative effects on your health. Here are 5 things that can happen to your body if you spend too much time playing games.

#1 - Back Pain

On average, most people play games for more than 3 hours per session. Sitting for long periods of time can cause a lot of back pain in the future. Especially if you don’t have good posture. A way to avoid this is to regularly take breaks to stretch and move around. A nice chair that supports your lower back and neck is another way to deal with the negative effects. A great chair will help improve your posture and provide comfort while you sit. Trust me, you do not want to deal with back pain. It is not fun.

#2 - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel is a condition that affects your wrist and fingers. Some symptoms are tingling and numbness in your fingers and pain in your wrist that can travel to your elbow. You can get it from doing repetitive hand movements. Things like holding your controller, holding your mouse, and holding WASD keys on the keyboard. This condition can affect people differently. A person can play games for 3 weeks and develop carpal tunnel while another can play games for 6 months and nothing happens. There is no way to prevent this but there are treatments to help deal with the symptoms. The one thing you have to do is limit the repetitive motions. Otherwise, the conditions will get worse and you won’t be able to play games at all.

#3 - Poor Blood Circulation

Poor Blood Circulation is another thing that can happen if you play games too much. It is caused by not moving around or sitting for long periods of time. It can lead to cold feet or hands, dehydration, and other unfun things. This is a serious condition if you ignore it. You can develop blood clots in your body that will reduce the amount of blood flowing to your very important organs, for example, the heart. Blood clots can also travel around your body to places that will cause a lot of problems, the fatal kind. No thank you. One way to reduce the likelihood of this is to, that’s right, take a break.

#4 - Eye Strain

Staring at a screen for long periods of time can lead to eye strain, which will eventually lead to poor vision. Most TVs, monitors, cell phones, and tablets produce blue light that can negatively affect your vision. This can make it harder for your eyes to focus on objects, you can develop dry eyes, and the muscle in your eyes can weaken. As of now, there is no way to prevent this condition. You can only try to alleviate the symptoms with various filters and stepping away for a few minutes.

# 5 - Headaches

I don’t know about you but the average gamer isn’t someone who is generally good at playing games. You won’t be dropping 50 kills in a Call Of Duty lobby; realistically maybe 10-15 max. Being bad at a game can lead to a lot of stress, frustration, and anger. It’s these emotions that can cause you to have headaches. It’s best not to get angry at someone who is roasting marshmallows next to their tent while waiting for you to turn a corner in Call of Duty. You shouldn't get frustrated at the game boss who is impossible to beat or that puzzle you can’t solve. Don’t stress out about the diamonds and tools you lost by falling in lava in Minecraft. You will get a headache. It’s not worth it.

Conclusion

Your health is the most important thing in the world and It’s important to take care of yourself. If you are having any problems, don’t try to handle it on your own. Consult a doctor for their professional opinion because, otherwise, these conditions can impact your life tremendously. Remember to take a break every now and then. Those games will still be there waiting for you when you get back.
