Maggie desired to be human. She had a fasciation with them. She was adopted by a human farm couple when she was an infant. Maggie hardly knew who her parents where besides having thick, green skin, bright, crimson red hair and bulky muscles like an alligator.

Maggie hated being an ogre. She felt so different from her friends. They all treated her well, yet she knew they noticed their differences. One day Maggie overheard folks in town, talking about a magical fairy godmother who could grant wishes. She left town and immediately went in search of this fairy who lived in a murky swamp of all places.

Yet Maggie didn't know where she was going and ended up, getting lost. Eventually she found a small cabin which seemed to be abandoned deep in the woods. It had started to rain and the thunder was intense, so she decided to hide in the cabin for a bit. She found a bed inside the cabin and laid down for a quick nap, but ended up falling into a deep sleep.

" What are you doing in my house?" a strong male voice asked, waking her up. Maggie nearly fell out of bed from the fear and as she stood her vision focused, realizing the man was actually an ogre.

" You're an ogre!" she asked. She had heard all the frightening stories about scary ogres living in the woods, eating the arms and legs of human children.

" Yeah and so are you. Where are you from?" the ogre man asked, lowering his guard. He laid his axe beside the door.

" I'm from Berrydale,"

" Berrydale... So you live with humans?" the ogre man asked, confused.

" Yes, they love me very much,"

" If that's true then what are you doing, sleeping in my bed way out in the woods far away from them? My name is Davie by the way," Davie said, extending his hand for a handshake.

" Well I heard about a magical fairy godmother who grants wishes. So I went in search of her but got lost. A terrible storm started, but then I found your cabin, so I entered and fell asleep. I'm sorry. I will go,"

" No, that's alright. You can stay a bit longer. I want to know why you were searching for this magical fairy." Davie chuckled. He started a fire and cooked potato soup for each of them.

Maggie sighed. She didn't want to admit her true, yet she also couldn't lie," I wanted the fairy to turn me into a human, so I can be like my friends,"

" Ah I think I understand now. You're ashamed to be different and want to be like everyone else," Davie said, drinking the rest of his bowl.

" No, that isn't true,"

" That is true, lass. You're just in denial. I get it. It must be hard, yet you must learn to embrace who you are and stop trying to impress others, especially humans. Humans have started so many wars and conflict ya know. Maybe the world needs a few more ogres in it." Davie said, winking.

Maggie spoke with Davie a little while longer then she left and continued to search for the fairy godmother. She searched all over the forest between the trees and tall grass with little to no luck. She'd visited Davie's cabin often and helped him chop logs or do other activities around his house. She wondered if Davie was her father, so she asked him.

" No, I don't have any kids. Don't ask me again," Davie said. By accident he slipped in a puddle and dropped his axe on his head. As his blood dripped down his forehead, Maggie panicked.

" Help! Help! Someone please help him. He's going to die!" she screamed, yet no one heard her.

Then the fairy godmother suddenly appeared in a small cloud of dust. She had beautiful, dark, curly hair and glowed like morning sunlight.

" Please help my friend, Davie. He dropped his axe on his head by accident. Please fix him," Maggie said, holding her hands together.

" I can only grant you one wish. Is this what you want most of all?"

Maggie knew she wanted to be a human, yet she had to do what was right.

" Yes," Maggie said nodding her head.

The fairy grabbed her wand then pointed it at Davie and muttered an ancient spell no one not even an ogre could understand. The hole in Davie's head rapidly healed itself and life sprang back into his soul.

" You saved my life instead of getting what you wanted?"

" Yes, because I love you," Maggie said, embracing him in a hug.

" Well I think I may be able to make an exception to the rules," the fairy godmother asked kindly.

" Thank you fairy godmother, but I don't want to be a human anymore. I like being an ogre. It's who I am." Maggie told her bright smile on her precious face.

" Well then it appears you may have gotten your wish after all. Chow!" the fairy godmother said then left.

Maggie returned home and told all of her friends and family what had happened. She invited Davie to her home, so he could meet her family. They shared an enormous meal, telling stories, and lived happily ever after.
