Isaah knew exactly where he and his little brother Elijah had made that snowman. It took them 40 steps; right next to the big maple tree out in the yard that had their names, scratched into the bark. It was covered with white, fluffy, snow now.
But somehow, that snowman was exactly 16 steps away from the house. How is it that in 24 hours, it had moved? As soon as Isaah and Elijah had come out to play in the snow once again, "Mr. Snowman" was waiting for them; as if to stare at them staring back at him.
He was a basic snowman at best when he was first thought of. But as he stood 16 steps away, he had appeared with a hat, a scarf, sticks for arms and gloves that neither Isaah nor Elijah had seen before.
He had a carrot nose. This disturbed Isaah as he and Elijah quietly stared at the snowman. Isaah recalled clearly how Nana had said a polite "no" when both he and Elijah had asked the day before to use one.
Elijah looked at his brother and said, "We should smash him. I know snow doesn't walk." Elijah was 7. Isaah laughed softly and said, " Yeah let's take him down. No more snowman's for a while."
So, Isaah and Elijah took him apart. Got rid of the hat, scarf, and the sticks they didn't include the first time.
However, the next day, only 6 steps away, he was back.
