The Nacho Terror

She would have the Ferret

By J. JayPublished about a year ago 1 min read
Happily drawn by me :D

She would have the ferret. She didn’t care that her mother said no. There would be nothing to keep them apart.

Nothing.

She had been planning it for weeks now. Today, Jared was on duty. He was always distracted debating politics with the parrots. Molly often wondered if Jared was okay.

While he was yelling, she snatched the keys off the plastic fish castle.

Unlock the case. Scoop up the ferret. Down the front of her jacket.

She quickly exited the store.

Everything was going according to plan. What she hadn’t accounted for, however, was the nacho guy.

Before she could stop it, the ferret sprang out of her jacket and scampered toward the man with nachos.

A shriek rang out.

“Molly?” her mother was back. She was staring at the scene before her.

Molly snatched up the ferret. It was licking its cheese-covered face with desperate energy.

“Molly…. Did you… hijack a ferret?”

“Er,” Molly said, looking down at the incriminating fellow. It squirmed in her grasp, its taste for cheese unsatiated. “Maybe?”

Her mother pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a strained breath.

“I was going to buy you a ferret for your birthday.”

“Oh.”
