The mysterious Kharan Desert

Daniyal was sleeping peacefully. since the time they slept, Sofia never felt the same peace her brother was sleeping with. She changed sides again and again and finally, non knowing after how many hours, her eyes closed. . While sleeping, Sofia felt a deep, noisy and bloody scratch from sharp nails on her legs.

She suddenly woke up, glaring the endless desert again and again once from her right side then left. Observing the bloody marks on her leg, she freaked out and shouted as loud as she could. ‘Wake up, Daniyal!!!’ , Sofia cried while jerking Daniyal to and fro, but he neither stirred nor replied. Again, she shook him but didn’t get any response. The dark clouds had already wrapped the sky completely and were ready to pour rain down. Sofia removed her blanket slowly and felt the dark and scary desert about to engulf her. With that move of her, Daniyal opened his eyes. He was sweating despite the cold wind. He was also frightened. ‘What to do now?’ , asked Sofia with a terrified look. ‘Let’s move out and go to home,’ said Daniyal with weird expression on his face.

The fast and heavy rain had already begun. While they were packing their camping tent, they felt the large and violent raindrops as rocks on their heads. Sofia’s legs were aching excruciatingly. Daniyal was terrified. Every step they took towards their home was full of fear and pain. While on their way back to home, both of them noticed a large scorpion with its bloody sting. Daniyal looked at Sofia and said’ “Desert is alive.” Both began running_ as fast as they could. They along with their camping tent and backpack were drenched in the rain water. Sofia was under the impression that someone is secretly following them. Though it was a desert, they heard the echo of their large steps. This is what made them further fearful and scared. With every moment passing, it was getting darker and scarier making it difficult for them to navigate the way towards their home. Living in the desert and spending so much time here on weekends, Daniyal had never encountered such scary experience before. After a lot of difficulties, they finally reached their home. On reaching home, they thanked GOD for saving their lives. Sofia and Daniyal both promised that they would never ever sleep in a desert again. It was a cold midnight of winter season. Kharan desert and its mounds laid quiet in the dark. The crescent moon was staring the trackless desert far from the sky. The soft breeze blew from east to west, making the desert serene and cold. Sofia and daniyal, her brother, were sleeping in a big camp tent that they had built just before the sunset. Their home wasn’t that far from here. they would often spend and enjoy their weekends in the desert.This weekend both sister and brother planned for a 2 day camping here.
