As to the varieties of religious experience, I have surmised that the sickness is a healing crisis, but that the man who emerges from the ordeal is still the same man, just healthier and able to comprehend the wisdom in his folly.

A dawn broke the storm. He ate the sun like a little pill. The onlookers thought it would burn a hole in his stomach. They did not know he was made of alchemically reinforced iron.
