"But I get too tired to travel. I'm old now, you know."

"Yes, I know that, Mum, but that is what I'm trying to tell you. You don't have to travel anymore. You can teleport."

"Pardon?"

"You can teleport. I've bought you one so that you can come and see us whenever you like. And vice versa."

"What? Like you see in science fiction films?"

"Yes, exactly like that!"

"I thought this video-calling was far fetched..."

"It's great, isn't it? Those miles will just melt away. You can babysit. Come for dinner. Every day if you'd like!"

"Heaven forbid."

"Pardon?!"

I would have mixed feelings about teleportation too as I love people but on my own terms. The prospect of people being able to beam themselves into my home whenever they want in the future does make me shiver a little, if I'm honest.

Oh, I'd equally be first to buy a cut-price teleporter, but also a teleportation blocker for my home! Well written little tale, chum!
