Nothing Innocuous, Simply A Statement

About Where It Will Rain And Then Just As Suddenly Stop

So; today I address mostly myself by the nickname Bedouins, although hypothetically I also address some random potential editorial persona non grata in some remote theoretically extant locale somewhere near a military base in Jersey. Now that this obtuse seeming ritual is done what strikes me as being somewhat noteworthy is that Tonya Snyder is now overseeing the day to day goings on of the NFL's D.C. franchise mainly because of former Super Bowl winning Redskin Head Coach Gruden ( John, not his brother Jay ) . She joins an elite club of pro sports franchise owners of the female gender, including one Georgia somebody and a certain daughter of Jerry Buss as I recall. The LA Lakers and the Rams seem to have done relatively well with women at the helm, so there is no reason to expect any drastic negativity to come from Dan Snyder's being deposed in Washington. The 'skins really cannot anticipate going anywhere but up based upon their relative state of mediocrity. Of trivial interest might be that this type of thing plays relatively nicely insofar as Hollywood portrays this type of situation, based upon what I saw of one movie of this ilk. I believe the movie was On Any Given Sunday, although no one should ( or does ) take me as a quotable, infallible source on such matters of little or no significance.

Other than the aforementioned I do not have much of anything stirring me today. I do seem to be done with the West Coast alternative site that outlived its marginal usefulness for the simple reason that they undervalued/devalued my contributing abilities to the point where a parting of the ways was eminently necessary.

The latest Baldwin brother controversy seems a tragic situation if not without at least a single precedent. Losing a well liked, popular up and coming cinematographer is unfortunate to say the least, especially being as how she was a woman breakthrough case in a hereto fore male dominated field. Mr. Alec has a lot to account for after being involved in almost a double accidental homicidal incident.

The Western Rust ( whatever it was/is supposed to be about ) probably would not suffer the same fate of the late Brandon Lee's movie. Fans of Brandon's deceased father who Americanized his name to gain/reach a broad audience recall that a similar mishap ended Brandon's life prematurely.

One would expect someone of Alec Baldwin's stature to have the best legal representation available. He ought to be skilled as a seasoned actor at seeming genuinely contrite, which seems to be the case.

The court of public opinion may make this out to be less horrifying than it could be due to once again the fact that Ms. Hutchins leaves behind a husband and a son, not a daughter. The same went for Lee; his sister mourns him as did his ex girlfriend and his mother but the loss is never regarded in the same way where the genders are concerned.

What does or/and can one make out of the latest twist in the saga of the NBA's most valuable utilitarian versatile young perennial All Star B. Simmons? There now seems to be almost a Simone Biles like resemblance whereby Mr. Simmons has a certifiably legitimate excuse to behave erratically. At least the Philadelphia Seventy-sixers do not have a tabloid type sex scandal , presumably, on their hands or a violent/perverted case in any way. Maybe basketball does not lend itself as easily as football to these kinds of dramas.

My own personal assessment is that somehow it would take divine intervention or something of this order to have this issue resolved in the psyche unfriendly Philly environs. Yet, I recall a character from the suburbs of this area decades ago as having said, supposedly, that he knew of someone who sought psychiatric help successfully. The statement that sticks with me was " I know someone who sees a psychiatrist...and there's nothing wrong with him " .

Being as how I really do not watch televised sports of the live variety anymore, I have to conjure the situation in my mind and imagine what it would look like to see the profound choking Ben did in last year's playoff. If my former hometown was legendary for producing pro sports losers, we also have had our share of near misses attributed to difficulty breathing at inopportune moments as well. Leave it to Philly to have a head football coach before he loosened up enough--dropped the workaholic crap--to win a Super Bowl instead of just putting in a pathetically uptight appearance.

Brotherly Lovers should easily recall immobile Bernard Parent, although he came back to town from Toronto and the WHA to backstop the Flyers to consecutive championship Stanley Cups in ice hockey. This was after he had stood as if transfixed as a ninety foot wrist shot slid past him four seconds away from making a playoff.

Even the Phillies overcame losing a six game lead with twelve to play in the sixties in baseball by eventually taking a World Series or two. Maybe it had to do with positive thinking, although buying/renting Pete Rose did not hurt.

It is difficult to remember exactly when I quit fictionally living and dying with/without the relative successes/failures of Philadelphia's sports franchises. Ditto regarding the local college teams.

I know that the significance of what my somewhat downtrodden if not shriveled up and inevitably/eventually one assumes decrepit dad told me about the fabulously unknown Shirley Temple's youthful success was lost on me. Unless I was mistaken ( could have been ) there was an implication that comparatively I was failing somehow at the ripe old age of nine.

I still do things that make me remember my boyhood heroes, such as grazing a handrail reminiscent of the way in which I recall Bernie Parent tapping his goalkeeper's stick against the left post to remind himself of where he was in the net. Supposedly/evidently this was one of many tricks he learned from Jacques Plant in Toronto while playing for the Maple Leaf team.

Tony R. makes headlines in perhaps the way one would expect he might. For those blissfully unaware, the ex Cowboy Quarterback made a crass remark recently or one interpreted in this way regarding the GOAT T. Brady and his latest incredible milestone six hundredth TD toss. To be brief Tony O insulted Brady's relationship status with the even more famous Gertrude, suggesting that she might lower herself to the level of acquiring jock memorabilia through the seedy performance of providing herself as an escort of sorts. Why no one suggests that the couple both simply model is mystifying. Better yet, Tom could become an escort but this implies equality of the sexes and even I am not that gullible; or am I? No one should really find fault in a broadcaster for being someone people occasionally love to hate a la the late Howard Cosell among others. What on the surface seems to be horrifically insulting/demeaning was a spur of the moment pressure packed sequence that is not likely to develop into a high powered slanderous lawsuit that ruins the guy's second career. We all know how Tony was a hard luck player and if he trips over his tongue as a sportscaster, well, he did have similarly really embarrassing moments on the field too. His spine was literally problematic causing premature retirement.

A tabloid horror story set in the middle of a body of water is the Princess Mako Royal tale over in Japan, Mako had decided to go the Harold Windsor/Megan Markle route and decline to remain Royal by in her case marrying a commoner. Ask any mermaid ya' happen ta' see if she cares, much less what's the best tuna. Mostly it is the ethnicity involved that keeps this from being perhaps the highly scandalous fake news that it ought to be and is in theory.

Roberta Joan Anderson aka Joni Mitchell would seem to be an older generation's version on the Canadian American Wilson sisters from Heart. Funny thing, for decades I thought Ms. Mitchell was an Aussie originally. Speaking of uplifting feminist material Joni is/was a strong person who turned an unwed pregnancy ( she gave up her daughter for adoption ) into supposedly the fabulous artistry, musical and otherwise for which she is legendary. YouTube's Rick B. does her tribute nicely in one of his many highly watchable videos, namely regarding her memorable song Amelia, inspired in part by the many decades deceased Amelia Earhart.
