I suffer regularly with

This damn Ragged insomnia

Delving in and out of dreams

Exploring dimensions of phenomena

Lost in fields of green clover

Dandelions and bright hydrangeas

Lying awake in bed

wondering where these thoughts are deriving from

Tonight, I’m standing on a shore

Watching the waves crash on the sand

I can hear me, as I snore

Holding a seashell in my hand

Next thing I know I’m on the floor

Stacking a pyramid of cans

Counting one, two, three and four

Screaming, catch me if you can

I grab my phone to check the clock

As I roll across my bed

I hear a faint but steady knock

And a little voice inside my head

Asking, why are you still awake?

And when I attempt a calm response

I find I’m trapped by charming snakes

Waving tails made of magic wands

Another morning greeted with

Complete dread and sheer exhaustion

Grappling - reality and myth

And a lack of self precaution

It’s 3 am again

With a new adventure starting

This one begins and ends

With some pretty deadly farting

They have me strapped up to a table

With a gag inside my mouth

A record player playing fables

As things are quickly going south

A group of dogs around a table

Playing poker in my house

Watching the game of thrones on cable

But the dragon is a mouse

It appears that I am Cersi

Being drug around the courtyard

I am begging them for mercy

Holding a get out of jail free card

Seems Monopoly is on my cell

So they free me, willy nilly

I let out a rebel yell

Singing all idol songs with Billy

No, it doesn’t make much sense

In dreams the rules don’t apply

Besides, tell me, what’s the difference

My one and only, ride or die

My dreams are random and obscene

No fairytales to tell the kiddos

If you don’t know what I mean

Hang around and see the photos

Every night, a new adventure

Sometimes the faces are the same

But for future safety measures

The name and places have been changed

Bells and whistles on the windows

So there’s no need for alarm

Except the one set on my cellphone

On the night stand, above my arm

Here we go again

I dream I’m falling from the sky

From a tree or in an airplane

Either way I’m gonna die

Last time I fell into a trance

It beat falling to the ground

Except, of course, I had no pants

The rest of me, dressed like a clown

I stood there smiling in the spotlight

Floppy shoes and bright red nose

Riding a stallion they called Midnight

Between my teeth a blood red rose

We galloped round and round the big top

Blowing kisses to the fans

When out of nowhere Midnight stopped

Hearing the Bee Gees, began to dance

Staying Alive blasted the speakers

Turns out this time, I didn’t die

I traded my dreams and a pair of sneakers

For a my pillow to wipe the sleepy from my eyes

So, good morning, everyone

I’m so glad you came to join me

Be ready when the sun goes down

For another adventure after three.
