Daniel followed Jane into her room. He kissed her neck briefly and slowly tried to make his way down to her jeans. She enjoyed the love and affection but gently pried Daniel's hands off of her belt.

"Not now. My parents are home." She said.

He moved from on top of her and laid next to her. Was he upset? Kind of, he hasn't seen her since exams started, and the semester is almost over. On top of that, with him switching colleges, he wouldn't see her for months. The glitter on the ceiling started to dust off and fell on them. She felt to urge to say, "I love you." He felt the urge to reply with the exact three words.

She opened her mouth to say something else, but her mother called her name. Jane got up, saying, "Be back." Leaving her room and turned off her light. Daniel took out his phone to entertain himself., he didn't know when she'd be back, so he got comfortable and waited. Adjusted to move up and lay his head on a pillow. Her scent filled his nose with the perfume he got her for Christmas. He was looking through social media, interested in all the drama from school. Cuffing season was almost over, and breakups were happening. Suddenly he disappeared from all of her pictures. He doesn't follow her anymore. A long heated battle in the comments about who slept with who. He wondered if Jane had any inside information on all of this. He sat up to continue reading when he heard a thud on the floor. A purple book with a lock on it. The word "Diary" was printed in large black letters on the front.

He picked it up and placed it back underneath her pillow. Then adjusted again, sitting cross-legged on the bed when the book fell again. It was in the same position. Daniel shook his head, letting out a sigh, not wanting to move from his comfortable place. He leaned over to pick it up again. Inches away, the lock popped open, and the book moved to him slightly. It wanted him to read it.

READ ME

He heard a whispery voice in his head. Seconds later, he was on page one. It started when she was six years old. He skipped a few pages to her grandmother's funeral at age eight. Then he went to her first kiss with Joh A. Mill, a guy in middle school. Josh moved away two years after that. Then at fifteen, that's when Daniel met Jane. He started reading but had to be careful not to get caught.

He read up to the day before yesterday. He could not and would not put it down.

Daniel repositioned himself, sitting on the far edge of the bed. Jane came in, jumping on the bed next to him with an excited smile, "My parents are gone." She said while kissing him on the cheek. His face was salty. Her demeanor changed, giving him a worried look, "What's wrong?"

He looked at her with pain in her eyes. She could tell he had been crying for a while and looked down to see her Diary in his hands. Her eyes grew wide, and her heart sank. "Oh sh-" An owl crashed in her window. It lied looking dead in the shattered glass. She grabbed the Diary without hesitating and ran out of the room; he followed her, so did the owl. She ran down the stairs, hopped over the couch, and tossed the book in the fire.

"Silly girl, it doesn't burn." The owl swooped in, taking the book from the fire and crashing through another window and up to the grey sky. Jane looked for Daniel. He was out the door starting up his car.

"Danny, don't go!"

"Get away! Don't touch me, you—you wicked bitch."

"No, Danny, don't go!" She stuck her hands out, making rapid movements with her fingers slowing down time and reverting in back. The window was fixed, Daniel was back in her room. Her parents were home, getting ready to leave again. She ran back upstairs to the point when she was lying next to Daniel as he looked at the ceiling. Everything was back to normal except her Diary. That was in the back of her mind. She'll get it back because she gets what she wants. She always will.
