There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Delores felt like this was all happening.in real-time. She would soon find out how her mental illness had taken a toll on her life. Not only was it happening in her life, but her mind had taken her to a deep, dark place. This place felt like hell, only it was a lie that she made up in her head. Anytime she told her story, people looked at her like she had completely lost it.

Delores had a boyfriend she would visit. Her boyfriend seemed like a stand-up guy who couldn’t do any wrong. Anytime she felt like she was losing her mind, he would support her and give her a hug. Until things got so dark that even he could not help her anymore. The world she now lived in was full of shapeshifters, serpents, and a wizard. She was scared to leave the world fearing that anyone she got close to would end up dead. She dared not to tell a soul. Even though this was just her imagination, for Delores, it was all really happening. She feared the worst out of every situation.

Delores’ boyfriend Albert kept telling her to stop thinking negative:

“Delores, you are having another episode. You need to get help,” said Albert.

Delores responded with a shaky voice, “No, you do not understand. This is real. I know it is.” She looked all around and the only thing that she could see was serpents. She would see them wrapped around the trees and crawling all around.

“Delores, you need to get some sleep.” Albert knew about her mental illness and how it would give her insomnia. She would get manic. “Your mind is taking you to made-up places.”

“No, it’s real. You are probably part of all this. You might be the one starting this in my head. I know I am not crazy.” Even though she wanted to believe it was made up, she absolutely knew that it wasn’t.

She felt like her boyfriend was a shapeshifter and pretending to care. She felt like she couldn’t trust anyone. Her paranoia set in. She kept praying for this to end, but it kept going like a bad dream.

Delores says,” We live right next to the woods. I saw it. I saw the dragons. They were looking at me with such evilness. Albert, you have to believe me!”

Albert shook his head and replied, “Delores, what do you mean. Dragons, there is no such thing.”

“No, Albert, you have to believe me. This has been slowly building up for weeks now. I wanted to tell you badly what I saw. I can’t, I just cannot.”

It took a minute for Albert to gain some compassion. He gently hugged her and said, “Baby, I Love you. I hate that you are going through this alone. You can tell me. You can trust me. Please, I need to know what is going on in your head. What are you seeing?”

Her voice was shaken, but she replied, “Baby, I can’t tell you. I want to tell you, but I just know what they are doing. If I tell you, I have to tell you in a safe place. A place where they cannot hear us or see us.”

Serpents in the Tree

Albert couldn’t imagine what she was going through. He had lost so much compassion that he was getting fed up with her imagination and all that she was going through. However, he looked at her and said, “Okay baby, whatever we need to do so you can be better. I want to know. Let’s walk to the church and talk.”

Delores was scared, but she wanted to tell him her story and all that was going on. She trusted him and wanted to believe she would be safe if he knew.

She turned to him and said, “Maybe you can protect me if I tell you. I don’t know, but I am scared. These dragons are everywhere in the woods. They are in the valley. They are everywhere. I’m scared if I tell you, they will attack.”

Up until now, Delores had only seen these things, but no harm had come to anyone she loved. At night she would see their eyes everywhere. They would glow up and it would be an intense feeling. She kept feeling like someone was trying to duplicate her or shapeshift. She would try all she could to prevent it. She bought black salt, protection candles, and even books of wizardry. She wanted to learn and take action against everything that was happening.

She finally decided it was time to tell Albert this wicked thing that was happening all around. She didn’t want to be afraid anymore. However, once she started telling him the story, it all got worse. She was in a fight for not only her life but the lives of all her loved ones. This was only the beginning. Was it only her mental illness, or did this really happen? Albert was the only one she began to tell the story to, but little did she know, he would not be the last.

As time moved on, she started to realize that these reptile creatures weren't evil. In fact, she realized that many lies had been created. There was a misunderstanding about serpents and how they were connected to the devil. She realized that with compassion, understanding and education that it wasn't scary after all. It was magical, and a beautiful divine gift. After all this experienced, she awakened her spiritual side. She found out later that all this was part of her rebirth. What beautiful things happen when we stop judging and learn to love ALL of creation around us.
