Doc Is In
for L.C. Schäfer's Fucked Up Fairytales - An Unofficial Challenge
Doc entered his office, placed his coffee mug on his desk, and slumped into his chair. "Gretel," Doc spoke into the intercom. "Send him in."
Bashful took a seat on the couch. "I love her, man. Seriously. That black hair. Those blue eyes. That perfect skin, like porcelain, man. I mean it, Doc. I love her."
Doc probed, "You say Snow doesn't even know your name?" Bashful teared up, pouring his face into his hands and nodding fervently. "And how does that make you feel?"
"How does that make--" Always, the same question. "Don't you believe me?"
"It's not a question of whether I believe you, Bash. The question is, do you believe you?"
Bashful didn't let the door hit him on his way out.

"Gretel," Doc pressed the button. "Send them in."
Three Little Pigs walked in.
The first cased the joint. Nothing. Not one damned *&^%* thing!
The second smiled, spotting Gorilla glue, which Doc had used to seal a crack in his coffee mug.
The third walked in and sat right down. "Let's get this over with, shall we?" He and his brothers had a business to run after all.
Doc leaned in. "How can I help?"
"I'm worried about my brothers. This one," said the third pig, pointing at his first brother, "has anger issues. He huffs all the time."
"And this one," he said of his second brother, "does drugs." The words hung in the air. "How he puffs and puffs!"
"And how does that make you feel?"

After lunch, Doc placed a call. Long distance. Gretel was great and all, but unreliable. She wouldn't talk about her eating disorder, which was fine. Wasn't Doc's client. But all that and brother issues? Spelled trouble, with a T, and that rhymed with P, and that got Doc thinking.
"Hey, girl," Doc said into the receiver. "How you doing?" A child screamed in the distance. "You get tired of hanging out in a shoe all day, you give me a call."
