growing and getting to know each other

By Parvathi JPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Leaning onto the step handrail, she looked at the snow piled up until the front door of Mr.Grumpy's home. She was tired, but her only comfort was that it was her last task and ten more dollars to attain her goal.

As she picked up her snow shovel, her 18-year-old mind uttered: "Don't do it. Six steps, and you will still walk empty-handed from this house,"

and she, the 12-year-old, murmured: "He is grumpy but old. It's okay. A dollar is a bonus. I have made a promise to my mom, and I don't want to upset her again. I got lucky that winter snow arrived before Christmas."

"Now I can buy a cycle for my sister,"

Turning on the timer and music, she started swaying and pushing off the snow from the steps, and on scooping the last inches of snow from the door, she slipped, hitting the door pretty hard. But no one unanswered. Upset about her luck, upon rising, she was surprised to see Mr.Grumpy standing across the street from her home, holding the mailbox. Suspecting, she bossed through the heaps of snow stacked on the sides of the road to catch him red-handed. Instead, she shouted in awe, recognizing the greeting card,

"Finally, an end to the search hunt, Mr.Gr..."

"Mr. Dunkin," he said,

"Are you the owner of Dunkin Donuts," she asked,

"LOL, Loreal! Don't forget my hot chocolate," he reminded,

"My Secret Santa." she loudly expressed,

"My Santa all this while!"

Thank you.
