Even though carrots are recognized as having some positive effect on one’s health, they cannot be expected to enhance one’s visual acuity. Many individuals who claim a carrot-a-day cured their normal vision will not be gifted with x-ray vision or the ability to see better than tar.

Fact: Eating carrots benefits the eyes It is widely believed that eating carrots initiates this process and since the human body requires a lot of effort in order to make carrots its main component, it is true that carrots help in maintaining good vision for those that include them as part of their daily diet.

In addition to provitamin A carotenoids, carrots contain another antioxidant, known as lutein, which can be effective in preventing the development of age-related macular degeneration, which is one of the most common causes of vision loss.

The Bottom Line

Carrots are a tasty and healthy source of nutrients that can be eaten as a snack, but they do not have the power to turn a person into anything they want to be or improve their vision. While they are not essential to enhancing and preserving the vision, they can be helpful as a part of any diet.
