--"All work and no play makes jack a dull boy", they've said. Well as for Emma, she can be considered a real fun time, I suppose! ---

Emma walked into work Monday morning, begrudgingly back from her weekend trip to the smoky mountains. Last night she barely slept a wink, because she was haunted by nightmares of her boss from hell denying her time off request. I'm taking off whether I get approved or not, she thought to herself. As soon as she sat down to her work desk and logged in for the day, she immediately started searching for flights leaving Thursday morning. She began to google the best locations for a three-night stay. Thankfully Mondays tended to be a slow day at the office, so she was able to book a new vacation before her shift ended. She had her sights set on NYC, a mere one-hour flight versus the long hours of unnecessary driving her boyfriend seemed to enjoy doing. She could imagine the picturesque moment she would step out of the airport, hair billowing in the wind while the leaves playfully danced against her cashmere sweater. She spent the remainder of the work week fantasizing about her trip, even though the time off denial sat on her desk. Incidentally, but definitely not coincidentally, she called in sick Thursday morning. Hours later, sitting snugly in the window seat of the plane nibbling on peanuts, Emma booked her a flight for the next weekend.
