However, with a country like Vietnam that has plenty to offer in terms of travel destinations and leisure thrills, you will not be found losing sleep at all. Thus, for the benefit of those intending on arriving in Vietnam with their children in the near future, it will make sense to peruse this travel guide.

Hop on a cyclo in Hanoi’s Old Quarter

There is no better way to kick off your travels in Vietnam than by journeying to the capital of Hanoi which is a bustling metropolis brimming with history, culture and plenty of bustle. One way of navigating the seemingly countless narrow streets and boulevards that comprise the Old Quarter is to hail a three-wheeled cycle taxi called a cyclo. Once inside, hold your breath as your driver snakes through traffic while you snap up memories on your trusty camera and watch the kids squeal in delight at every turn.

Visit the Museum of Ethnology

Ideal for all ages, the Museum of Ethnology located a mere 7 km from the Old Quarter will be your next stop. Partake in an immersive experience where you will be educated on the ethnic minorities of Vietnam through a vast array of exhibits that will be exciting and inspirational in no uncertain manner. Stumble upon long houses, clothes, jewellery, knives and a whole lot more en route to learning of the nuances of every day life. The Museum’s garden spaces ensure that the little ones can run along freely whenever they need a distraction.

Take a rowboat out to Trang An

A village nestled not too far away from the country’s ancient capital of Hoa Lu, Trang An boasts some of Vietnam’s most sublime scenery and if you want to take the family on a boat ride, then here is the place to be traveling to. Have a local pilot a boat as you begin moving at a leisurely pace along rivers that curl their way around towering mountains. During the trip, you will have the privilege of exploring dimly lit caves and passing underneath low hanging stalactites for one marvellous encounter with Vietnam’s raw, natural beauty.

Let yourself go in Mui Ne

The delightful coastal town of Mui Ne which is located in Southeast Vietnam is a hub for beachgoers, culture buffs and outdoor enthusiasts. Thus, this charming town will be the perfect tonic if you seek an outing with a fair share of heritage sites and action-packed pursuits to while away the hours with. Once done covering the glorious Cham temples, head over to the sand dunes and try your hand at some sand sledding before moving over to the Fairy Spring. Here, allow the kids to walk in a shallow creek so that they may splash about and frolic to their heart’s content.

Mingle with a local hilltribe

The region of Sapa in Northern Vietnam is where you will be able to meet and mingle with local hilltribes and in turn, learn of how these people survive with the very basics. In fact, the numerous Red Dzao villages are perfect for the kids as they will have a chance to get to know the local kids and develop a friendship along the way. Before you leave, be sure to call by one of the finest ethnic markets in all of Southeast Asia called Bac Ha Sunday Market. Watch in awe as people attired in traditional dresses gather to purchase fresh meats and vegetables.

Discover Hoi An’s magical identity

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hoi An beckons the young as well as the young at heart to embrace its distinct personality, regardless of whether you opt to have a cuppa tea within a traditional teahouse or enrol the kids in a lantern making class. With opportunities to explore Hoi An Central Market and go on a boat ride all but assured in the event you have spare time on your hands, it is vital that you cover as much of Vietnam as possible and venture to corners where few would dare dream of being at. In fact, when searching for ways to reach Hoi An, factor in the possibility of riding on The Vietage by Anantara which is a luxury train Vietnam is known for that will have you travelling across Central Vietnam before dropping you off at Da Nang Railway Station.
