Almost four years ago, COVID-19 was declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. As a result of the virus, every level of school was in a state of terror. Virtual learning was implemented in schools all around the world, and local authorities, instructors, and students quickly acclimated to a whole new way of life.

Consequently, it has become crucial for college students to switch from the lecture hall to the sofa, from studying in a dormitory to schooling at home.

In reality, studying amidst pandemic cause some students to fail because they have less motivation, no relationships, and limited access to the required devices. In the same setting, they have also had to cope with balancing family and academic responsibilities. The distinctions between personal and professional life have become hazier for many people, just as they have physically.

As a result of battling with the problems brought on by COVID-19, many young adults have suffered an increase in loneliness, stress, anxiety, and depression. During the outbreak, the great majority of college students reported higher stress and/or anxiety. Hence, it is now more important than ever for college students to develop coping methods for dealing with stress, anxiety, and other mental health difficulties.

The most significant key to helping college students deal with academic problem is teaching them coping skills that will benefit their lives. Here are the coping mechanisms that will serve as your key to conquer your college studies, especially amidst pandemic:

1. Sleeping Beauty

Getting adequate sleep is a basic first step in learning how to manage your stress. Get a good night's sleep for successful stress management and online learning performance. Maintain the quantity you've found works best for you.

Sleep is vital for cognitive function. (We all know that!) Right amount of sleep improves focus, memory, and learning. Not only are you better at taking in new information, but sleep also helps solidify memories from the day.

2. Rest! Rest! Rest!

Taking a break may be the most efficient stress management approach in an online setting. Sitting immobile for hours at a time while learning online is not good for your body or mind. Exercise. Stretch as you stand up. Take a stroll. Make plans to meet a buddy for coffee. It is not necessary to take long rests. It's a simple effective stress-reduction strategy.

3. Stay Connected

You may invest so much time to your studies at online schools and universities that you neglect or postpone keeping in touch with your loved ones. Avoid isolating yourself while earning your degree online. Being sociable, even if it's only a phone call, is one of the simplest methods to reduce stress.

4. Me Time

"Me" time allows our overworked minds to disengage and relax. This provides us more control over our moods, enhances our patience, and allows us to live in the present moment. After a tiring online class, you can watch your favorite Netflix series or try to cook your favorite food.

5. Reward Yourself

When we reward ourselves, we feel invigorated, cared for, and happy, which increases our self-control, and this helps us continue our healthy habits. So, whenever you feel that you need it, open your Shopee and Lazada and check it all out—You deserve it!

Fundamentally, college is insanely complex, whether it’s online or traditional. But the online set-up indeed makes it more intricate. As we continue to battle with this concept. Let us all not forget that there are strategies to it. There are ways to survive it—that is the vital coping mechanism that serves as our key in conquering our college odyssey.
