Square describes a shape that has four sides of equal length. There are plenty of objects with a square shape or rectangle shape, from waffles to post it notes to tiles.

Square Shaped Objects

Even if the hexagon is the most common shape found in nature, the most used shape in the world is the square shape.

▣ Square geometric shapes are common shapes in the human made world.

Paper napkins, table chalkboard, chess boards, photo frame, floor tiles, tablet, and so on are some real-life examples of rectangle shaped objects.

So, this is a list with things that are square shaped!

Tile: These are usually made of ceramic, and are used as a durable and easy to clean floor covering.

Scrabble Tile: These are the playing pieces used in Scrabble.

Post-It Note: These are small coloured papers with a small sticky strip, used for reminder notes.

Bread Toast: While bread can come in many different shapes and sizes, supermarket bread is generally square when sliced.

Chalkboard: Chalkboards have usually a rectangle shape with a rectangle wooden frame. There are lots of rectangle shape objects in the classroom and this is maybe the most famous.

Napkin: These are like tissues, but thicker and generally folded into squares.

Sandwich: Generally regarded as a lunch or snack food. Made with some sort of filling between two slices of bread.

Floppy Disc: A now obsolete way of storing digital data.

Chess Board: This is a strategy game played on a square board.

CD Case: A case for a now obsolete way of storing and playing music.

Vinyl Record Sleeve: These are generally made of cardboard and protect vinyl records.

Crossword: This is a word puzzle where you fit words into a grid based on a set of clues.

Calendar Cells: The cells used for recording daily information in a calendar are generally square-shaped.

Company ID Card: Corporate id card design has usually a rectangle shape on vertical or horizontal.

Passport: In all countries in the world the passport has a rectangle shape.

Telephone Box: The telephone box or public call box is a tiny structure furnished with a payphone. This is another example of a rectangle shaped object.

Map: Is a representation usually on a flat surface of the whole or a part of an area. The maps have usually rectangle shapes.

Paper Sheet: The paper sheet is by definition a flat rectangle made out of white paper.

Poster: A usually large printed sheet that is put on a wall as decoration or posted in a public place to promote something.

Paper Bag: A paper bag is a bag made of paper, usually craft paper. Paper bags are square shaped things that we all have in our homes.

Magazine: We have lots of square things at home and the magazines are one of them.

Keyboard Key: These are generally square-shaped pads with letters on them.

Waffle: This is generally seen as a breakfast or dessert food.

Butter: The butter is a pale yellow edible fatty substance made by churning cream and used as a spread or in cooking.

Business Card: Business cards are usually rectangular, but are now also available in square shapes as well.

Credit Card. The credit car is a small plastic card issued by a bank, building society, etc., allowing the holder to purchase goods or services on credit. Credit cards are another good example of rectangle shape objects.

Wallet. The wallet is a pocket-sized flat folding case for holding money and plastic cards. The wallets are among the most used square shaped things in daily life.

Square Logos & App Icon: App icons are rounded squares.

Pizza Box: While pizzas are round, their boxes are square for convenience.

Grid: This is an arrangement made of smaller shapes, generally squares.

Bricks. Walls are sometimes made out of bricks. A brick is a small rectangular block typically made of fired or sun-dried clay, used in building.

QR Code: A QR code is a type of matrix barcode that you scan to get information.

Audio Cassette Tape. The cassette tape is a flat, rectangular container made of plastic or lightweight metal that holds magnetic tape.

Video Cassette. It is a a compact case containing a length of magnetic tape that runs between two small reels. Has also a rectangle shape.

Brownie Cake: These are cakes cooked in rectangular pans, generally served as square slices.

Cutting Board: A cutting board is a durable board made usually from wood or plastic on which to place material for cutting. It has a rectangular shape and it is usually used in the kitchen.

Pocket Square: A decorative addition to a formal suit, usually placed to add color and texture or to match their partner's outfit.

Baking Tray. The baking tray is a flat, rectangular metal pan placed in an oven and used for baking pastries. The baking trays are yet another example of rectangle objects at home.

Tablecloth: A protective cloth placed on a table to guard against scratches and spills while eating.

Bandanna: A decorative square cloth used as a wrap (usually triangle wrap). If you want an example of square objects, this is an excellent example.

Painting Canvas: Thick woven fabric used for painting. When we think about square and rectangle shape objects, we can not leave the painting canvas out of the list.

Coaster: These are small, thick plates used to protect the surfaces of tables and desks when drinking something cold.

Chocolate Tablet: Family blocks of chocolate tend to be relatively thin and flat.

Table. The table is a piece of furniture with a flat top and one or more legs, providing a level surface for eating, writing, or working at. The rectangle shape images include tables that are not round.

Ice Cube: While there are now novelty shaped ice cubes, ice cubes are classically square (technically cube) shaped.

Tea Box: These are wooden boxes with compartments used for storing multiple types of tea leaves and bags.

Book. The book is a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers. Round books are not that common so the books are rectangle shape things.

Gift Box: A plain box without branding on it to present gifts in.

Postcard. A postcard is a card for sending a message by post without an envelope, typically having a photograph or other illustration on one side. It usually has a rectangle shape.

Postage Stamp. A postage stamp is a small adhesive piece of paper of specified value issued by a national Post Office to be affixed to a letter or parcel to indicate the amount of postage paid. Postage stamps are square or rectangle shaped.

Greeting Card. A greeting card is a decorative card sent to convey good wishes.

Envelope. An envelope is a flat usually paper container for a letter, greeting card, etc.

Bed. A bed is a a piece of furniture for sleep or rest, typically a framework with a mattress. Rectangle objects at home include beds.

Window. Transparent panes of glass used for looking in and out of a house or room.

Door.

Ring Box: These are small, formal jewelry boxes for gifting and storing rings.

Tote Bag: A tote bag is a large bag used for carrying a number of items. It has a flat rectangle shape.

Sheet Cake: A sheet cake is a large, flat cake generally used for making tiers.

Butter Biscuit. Cookies originating in Denmark consisting of butter, flour, and sugar. The classic butter biscuits have a rectangular shape.

Picture Frame: A frame used for displaying and protecting photographs.

Plate: Serving plates are generally square rather than round.

Restaurant Menu. A restaurant menu is a list of dishes available in a restaurant. Most of the restaurant menus are printed on a rectangular paper sheet.

Sugar Cube: Small serving sizes of sugar pressed into cubes. Things that have square shape like cubes are easier to pack.

Dice. Small, generally plastic cubes that are used to provide randomized decision-making or numbers.

Container. Cargo containers are large, steel boxes that are used to transport goods by ship, train, and truck.

Laptop. A laptop is a computer that is portable and suitable for use while travelling. The laptops come in different sizes but the most common shape is the rectangle shape.

Notebook. A notebook is a a small book with blank or ruled pages for writing notes in. The notebook shape is rectangle, square, etc.

Rubik's Cube: A plastic cube puzzle where the aim is to align the same colour on each face of the cube.

Building Block: These are painted wooden blocks used by children to explore and build small, temporary structures.

Minecraft Blocks: Minecraft is a game where everything is based on using blocks to build.

Cardboard Box. Cardboard boxes are industrially prefabricated boxes, primarily used for packaging goods and materials.

Crate: A wooden or plastic box used to store and transport goods (like groceries).

Soap: Handmade soaps are usually provided in cut squares.

Towel: A towel is a piece of thick absorbent cloth or paper used for drying oneself or wiping things dry. In the majority of cases the towels have a rectangle shape.

Cobblestone: These are pavement stones used to build textured walkways.

Salt Crystals: Salt crystals are square-shaped.

Turkish Delight: This is rose-flavored jelly candy cut into squares.

Wardrobe: A wardrobe is a large, tall cupboard or recess in which clothes may be hung or stored. If you search for wardrobe images, they all have a rectangle shape (a rectangular box made of wood).

Pillow: A pillow is a rectangular cloth bag stuffed with feathers or other soft materials, used to support the head when lying or sleeping.

Building: A building is a structure with a roof and walls, such as a house or factory.

Radio: A radio is a device for receiving, and sometimes broadcasting, sound messages, or the receiving or sending of sound messages

Vintage TV: An old TV is a device shaped like a box with a screen that receives electrical signals and changes them into moving images and sound.

Clock: A clock is a device that shows what time it is and that is usually placed in a room or attached to a wall. Clocks are usually round shaped but they can also have a square shape.

House: A house is a building for human habitation, especially one that consists of a ground floor and one or more upper storeys.

Screen, Monitor, Tablet, Phone: These modern technology devices have all rectangle shapes.

Flag: A flag is a piece of cloth or similar material, typically oblong or square, attachable by one edge to a pole or rope and used as the symbol or emblem of a country or institution.

Banknotes Money: Also called bill, paper money, or simply a note is usually rectangle shaped.

Swimming Pool: A swimming pool is a structure designed to hold water to enable swimming or other leisure. There are lots of rectangle swimming pools but they can have other shapes too.

In Conclusion

Shapes like squares and rectangles are precise, regular, stable, a good base for design.

Square shaped objects as well as rectangle shaped objects are often found in human-made things, like building, machines and objects.
