Harsh reality of education system

a small account of situations faced by students in an academic scenario all over the world

To introduce myself, I am an Entrance exam aspirant residing in India, accomplished my preparation for one of the world's toughest exams {JEE advanced}..which lays out the journey to the most prestigious institutes of our country as well as in Asia.

I have to write my heart out about my struggles and difficulties in my journey ., as well as I need to express my country's perception on these exams.

With opportunity, comes expectations, with expectations..comes hard work, and with hard work comes success!!... Is the above sentence well-defined? according to my opinion, A Big NO!!! success involves a lot of struggles and the journey to our destiny will be scripted as a movie by Christopher Nolan..with huge twists..and disappointments. Our expectations may not be met at the time we desired, but if we keep trying ..success comes one or the other way..but what about society's perception? In just two simple words, we can say it is " hard work===>success", but that's not the way it is sculpted. Society, instead of finding what fits best for the children, puts the children in a field that they are not interested in, forces them, and if they fail, they are labeled as failures. To be honest, these students are pushed to the bottom and can't handle this huge amount of pressure. As a result, they choose the wrong path, like smoking and taking weeds, and the worst case, suicide attempt!

Indian parents and coaching institutes portray their behaviour to their students like this "If a coal can't handle pressure, it can't be a diamond. They say this as a reason for their pressure. But they have forgotten that coal cannot be converted to diamond, and they will be converted to ash particles ..not diamonds (lol) since coal contains a lot of impurities.

26, what do you think of this number ?? Will you believe this is the suicide toll of Jee aspirants in Kota (Rajasthan), which is the Hub for engineering entrances? The pressure and the depression teens face are pushing these fellow aspirants to their brink ... They are made to think in such a way that the way to become rich is to become an engineer by cracking these entrances. That's a Misconception ..and this needs parent's attention too!!

This is a phenomenon faced by teens all across the world, especially in a country with a rigorous curriculum. China is one of these countries. This is a country known for the GAOKO test. The exam which is conducted for about 9 hours ( longest in the history), tests the student's skill in various fields including engineering. This test requires students to prepare for years. China's system includes wearing headbands for children to monitor a student's focus on the class. If they lose focus, the class teacher gets a message of the student's info and he will be punished. Another hilarious and disturbing fact about China's schools is they inculcate CCTV cameras to monitor student's Yawning. I have no opinion about these facts. Comment down about your opinions on the Chinese schools. Have they gone too serious in their curriculum??

Education leads to knowledge. Knowledge is not just a necessity to survive in the present market and jobs. Learning leads to Action. Action leads to implementation, followed by failure. Failure leads to learning and this ultimately grabs our interested destination. We need to understand that Failure is an essential component of learning, which doesn't indicate the inability of an individual in the Learning process.

I am not here to offend any parents or their opinions. we teens (including me ) know that we were blessed with beautiful and supportive parents, who understand us and help us all the time. Take your child out, go shopping, to movie theatres to give a break for ones who are full-fledged with their preparation. Ask them about how are they feeling and the difficulties faced. I am sure that you can't solve all his/her problems, but this will give them a stress-free feeling, and this will make them feel that they are not alone in their rat race ...
