The one when Joey Tells Rachel

To unrequited love

By Hridya SharmaPublished 4 days ago 1 min read

I am falling in love with you!

I don’t get it!

I said I am falling in love with you.

The very noteworthy scene between Rachel and Joey in the most-watched sitcom friends tells us about love. The very fact that Joey fell love in with Rachel has contradictory reactions from the audience. Joey and Rachel have been friends for several years, and friendship is something that comes with its rules and regulations, its ups and downs. Humans are contracted beings, the ones who take everything for granted when it comes easy.

Joey was a philanderer who had never fallen in love before. But love! Woo, it moves mountains, changes seasons from war to peace and from peace to war. One thing for sure is love and time cannot be fathomed, tamed, or settled. It simply flows from one heart to another, from one soul to another. The very moment when joey shared the seat with Rachel, holding her in his arms. We all saw the look in his eyes, the way he looked at her certainly changed her place from a friend to something more.

And when Joey said, “ have you ever known someone for a very long while and suddenly seen them differently. It made all of us remind of us glancing at someone more than just the glass of a friend. That is what love can do, it can burn its flame even where there is no room for it. Joey reminds us all of the unrequited love, the ones whom we cannot embrace, love or touch.

And all we do is

In all those moments I want to grab you and kiss you.

But I know I can’t so I just stand there looking at you!

Ps – can we just appreciate the fact that joey fell in love with Rachel when she was pregnant. Unlike all his other indiscretions which were only based on attraction.
