Serial Killer Leonarda Cianciulli was an excellent baker who used 'HUMAN BLOOD' to make Tea Cakes

Leonarda Cianciulli was a very famous soap maker in Italy and was an excellent baker. I recently wrote an article about her, Dead Bodies Were Used to Make Soap (Serial Killer Leonarda Cianciulli).
Leonarda Cianciulli (The Soap-Maker of Correggio) was an Italian serial killer responsible for three deaths in 1939 and 1940.
You can click HERE to read the full article on why she murdered those three people and turned them into soap and tea cakes.
She was sentenced to thirty years in prison and three years in a criminal asylum. Everyone loved her baked goods in prison.

While in prison, she wrote a seven hundred plus pages memoir (titled βAn Embittered Soulβs Confession) going into detail about her murders.
In her memoir, she also included all of her recipes. Those are the recipes that a lot of famous Italian bakeries still reference in their baking. They say it's some of the most authentic Italian baking.
As for the blood in the basin, I waited until it had coagulated, dried it in the oven, ground it, and mixed it with flour, sugar, chocolate, milk, and eggs, as well as a bit of margarine, kneading all the ingredients together. I made lots of crunchy tea cakes and served them to the ladies who came to visit, though Giuseppe and I also ate them.

I tried searching for a copy of her memoir but unfortunately, I found out that it wasn't published. Only certain excerpts were released.
Here's my take on how Leonarda would have written the recipe for her tea cakes made with the blood of victims.
Yield: 2 dozen
Prep Time: 30 Min
Cook Time: 10 Min
Method: Bake
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of human blood
- 3 cups of flour
- 1 3/4 cups of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of margarine or human body fat
Directions:
1. Find a victim. Pretend to offer them something they need, for example, a new job, but make it look like they have to leave town to get it.
2. Ask your victim to stop by your place before leaving town. Make them write letters to all their friends and family to inform them they're leaving town (These letters are for you to post once they're dead to not arouse any suspicion).
3. Mix sleeping pills into wine and offer them a drink. Once they pass out, bonk them on the head till they die.
4. Place buckets all-around before you start to dismember them. Collect as much blood as you can (You need 1/2 cup, but if you get more than that, it can be stored in the fridge)

5. While you wait for the blood to clot, cream the margarine/body fat and sugar in a bowl. Add in one egg at a time while mixing. Then add in the blood and mix well.

6. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
7. Mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture and alternate with milk.
8. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
9. On a greased cookie sheet, spoon the mixture about 1/4 inch thick and place them 1 1/2 inches apart.
10. Bake them for 8 to 10 minutes.
11. Allow them to cool down before serving.

12. While your guests are enjoying your tea cakes, use this time to clean up the crime scene and get rid of the body.
13. Do not reveal this recipe unless you want to get caught.

Must be her version of red velvet
Oh my! This reminds me of the musical Sweeney Todd. It was so nice of you to include the recipe π
I loved your creative spin on the recipes. The music from Sweeney Todd was playing in my head while I was reading this.
Ugh, could you imagine, eating her cakes and finding out how she made them
Doing my Christmas baking and this story popped into my head... This is what I meant earlier when I ask myself "What is wrong with you???" LMFAO!!! Hope you appreciate this!!
Dharrsheena, I think this is my favourite article of yours thus far!! It was creepy and gross but for some reason my morbid sense of humour enjoyed! I was literally laughing out loud at the directions in your recipe!! Too funny! "Find a victim and offer them something they want..." "While guests enjoy treat, take the time to clean up the crime scene.." π€£
Whoa! I have never heard this story! (Even though I'm low key addicted to true crime podcasts). Very well-written and interesting. Can't say I'll be trying the recipe, but it was entertaining to read! You know I appreciate your dark humor.
I enjoyed this much too much π

So how many calories are we thinking in each tea cake? hahaha Great writing, and I especially appreciated your take on how the recipe would've been written :) You have a lovely, twisted sense of humor, well done.
You make a better writer than most of those clowns out there who like repeating themselves in their posts, that are currently writing for online magazines. Although we know how this story ends you still made it a very interesting read. Best wishes my dear friend and well done. P.S thanks for the Halloween recipe ππ
I had read and "enjoyed" this but not left a comment, I have now
hee hee. This is equally hilarious and horrifying. You're a sick puppy.
Number one remind me not to eat in her kitchen, I almost vomited reading the recipe. Great story thanks for sharing
First question! As a nutritionist as well as a writer which requires research, did you try this recipe? Second, if not, are you conspiring too? π€£. Love the macabre story.
Well, this recipe certainly looks easy enough to follow. And the image of the tea cakes looks delicious!
Excellent story!!
This is awesome!
Bonk!
This was spooky!! I really enjoyed it!
Previously read and hearted. What a tale! This lady was something else. Nicely written.
Interesting and entertaining.
This recipe is going to make me the king of the Annual Wendigo Festival. Nice work!
I also write true crime so am often not surprised by some of the details when I come across stories. This however was different. How very disturbing to know people were just eating human blood on the regular. Makes you never want to eat anything you didn't prepare yourself. Nice work. π
Wow I wouldnβt ever want to know if Iβd eaten one if her cakes. Great article.
