Chapter 14

FLASHBACK.

Two figures lain in a bucolic field. Those forms wrangled each other's, with one of them laid atop the other.

A young Luca is seen grasping the girl in her arms, a bright smile which revealed a set of crooked teeth, now taking his face.

"Un giorno ti porterò fuori di qui"

(Someday, I'm gonna take you out of here)

Those words only earned a chuckle off the girl, gaze laden in the longing ones of the young man?"

"E come intendi farlo?"

(And how do you intend to do that?) Followed her words.

"Hai solo quindici anni... E tutto quello che so che fai è affrettarti a seguire quell'idiota di tuo fratello, comportandoti come se fossi parte di una banda

(You're merely fifteen...And all I know you to do is scurrying about tagging along that knock-head of a brother of yours, acting like you're part of some gang)"

"Facciamo parte di una banda!"

(We are part of a gang!)  Luca called abruptly.

"E pensi che questo ti faccia sembrare più duro? Sono già tuo, Luca. Non c'è niente che tu debba fare per impressionarmi più di quanto hai già fatto"

(And you think that makes you seem any tougher? I'm already yours, Luca. There's nothing you need to do to impress me more than you've already done)

"Beh, non fatemelo sembrare colpa mia"

(Well, don't make me it seem like my fault) Came the words of the young man"

"È papà che ci fa seguire a lui di tanto in tanto. Dice qualche sciocchezza nel volerci orientare"

(Father's the one who has us tagging along with him now and then. Goes on some rubbish about wishing to orient us)

"Pensi che tuo padre sia un trafficante di bambini?"

(Do you think your father's some child trafficker)

And following the words from the girl, Luca sat up in shock.

"Buon Dio!" Exclaimed Luca. "No!" He called at once.

"Perché allora mantiene segreti i suoi affari al pubblico?"

(Why then does he keep his dealings secret from the public?)

"I don't know. He has refused to tell even us, his sons"

"Whatever it is, I want you to stay out of it, Luca" Followed the voice of the girl. "You know it doesn't end well"

The young man stood to his feet, hands reaching out for the fingers of the girl, gently he pulled her up to his height, coming to settle a kiss on the warmth of her lips.

"Dai" (Come on) He beckoned. "Seguimi" (Follow me)

""Dove mi stai portando?" (Where are you taking me to?)

"Al cinema" (To the Cinema)

"Che cosa? Lo sai che ci hanno bandito da lì"

(What? You know they banned us from there?)

"Ebbene, se pensano che interromperanno le nostre gioie, non hanno idea di cosa li aspetta"

(Well, if they think they're gonna cut off our joys, they have no idea what's coming at them)

~~~
The outline of two shadows was to be made out in the yard of Pallieri Cinema.
The silhouettes of a boy and girl, creeping up the walls of the building, both figures were cautious not to be seen by security.
They hurried into the building, proceeding to the theater.
Luca could hear the laughters coming from in there, the sound of people basking in joy as they watched the film being played.
Luca couldn't understand wherever their delight spawned from. The young man was most bitter, seeing as to how the cinema house had placed a ban on him alongside his love, from ever stepping foot in there.
What really had the fella done?
He had only punched a guard in the face, after the bastard laid compliments on Giorgia, whom he had arrived the Cinema with, and soon after a ruckus ensued, they were banned on the spot.
And now, came the lad, wrought with mischief, and certainly, pain, as he made his way to the tape room.
"We're gonna get caught, Luca" Followed the voice of Giorgia, but the lad was sure to go on.
He proceeded into the space, and at the bellow of the security men in there, he lunged forward, crashing into their forms.
Those figures tumbled to the ground, curses  flying out of their lips, and with the young man who had now caused a ruction wasting no time there, he leapt to his feet, reaching to cut off the films.
The sound of groans could be heard pouring from the cinema, and all through the time those security guards struggled to their feet, sending threats to an already evading Luca, more men began pouring.
Luca spared no time, he had taken the hands of his love in his, and basking in their new found glee, both figures hurried out of the cinema house, being chased down by security men, who were mostly irked by the sound of laughters coming from the kids they ran after.
Luca and Giorgia made it afar from the cinema, soon stopping by a deserted street.
Giorgia panted for breaths, gaze turning to the young man, and upon gaze, the sound laughters soon broke out, while both figures collapsed into each other's hold.
End of Flashback.
~ LUCA ~
I gaped at the woman before me.
Those eyes of hers still sought mine with care, and even now while standing before the dame, i realized just how much she had changed.
I couldn't tell if those platinum blonde waves of hers were dyed, or she had just grown into them.
I watched the lady step back, gaze squinted my way, and for a minute it looked like she was trying to figure out the profile before hers, and come the next moment, her eyes shot up with every vigor.
"Luca?"
She began advancing my way, and in a moment, her frail figure had crashed into mine.
Darn it! She smelt like the roses in my garden, her form light in my arms.
She pulled back at once, her lips pulling open to reveal a bright set of teeth.
"Who would have thought?" she poured in a breath, gaze left skimming me from top to toe.
"Now tell me what a guy has come looking for on the shores of England" She chortled.
"It's been what?...years now"
I should in fact direct the question to her, cause as much as I could recall, the last time I saw this face, was that very day I was been carried on a ship to England by father.
I had turned Seventeen, and Father being the kill-joy, pried me off the hands of the girl I had known to love my entire childhood.
For months, a wreck I turned knowing so well, I wouldn't gaze upon that profile ever again, yet, here she was, bearing so much grace that left me gaping.
"Buon Dio! You look exquisite" The sound of her voice managed to have snapped my gaze to hers.
And only now did that accent which came laced with her words turn prominent in my ears.
"Tell me how to make up for the damages"
She began, but I had advanced towards her at once. "That won't be necessary" I followed immediately. "Believe me, I'll have it sorted out in no time"
She didn't look like she believed any of my words, cause her brows had now pulled into a furrow.
"You'll only leave me feeling guilty, Luca" Cane the response.
And with that, I watched her rummaging through her purse for something, leaving me prying on.
I watched her snatch a card out, already pushing it into my palmsx
"I work as a therapist, Luca..."
Silence.
"And I bear it as a core value to help anyone with issues" Followed her words.
I only remained gaping at that face, watching how those eyes of hers would light up whenever our gazes met.
"I hope we see some other time"
Those were the words that followed right before the dame went retreating, returning to her vehicle, and zooming off, leaving me staring at the writings on the card in my hand.
Giorgia Ricci.
