The capture of Halicarnassus was a significant victory for Alexander. It eliminated a major Persian stronghold and secured his control over the southwestern coast of Asia Minor. The Siege of Halicarnassus Having secured Sardis and Ephesus, Alexander set his sights on Halicarnassus, a heavily fortified city and the capital of the Persian satrapy of Caria. Halicarnassus was a formidable target due to its strong defensive walls and its position as a key Persian naval base. The city's defenders, under the command of Memnon of Rhodes and the Persian satrap Orontobates, were well-prepared for a lengthy siege. Memnon, a capable Greek mercenary commander, had proven to be a significant adversary, employing effective defensive strategies against Alexander's forces.

Torin had been in front, but when someone from the group at the back of the room had yelled out a challenge, she pushed forward, glaring at the one who had spoken.
