Siege of Halicarnassus and Asia Minor Campaign

#### The Aftermath of Granicus

After his decisive victory at the Battle of Granicus in 334 BCE, Alexander the Great pressed forward with his campaign to liberate Asia Minor from Persian control. The victory at Granicus not only opened the way into Asia Minor but also served as a powerful statement of Alexander's military prowess and his resolve to conquer the Persian Empire. It encouraged several Greek city-states under Persian rule to rebel and join Alexander's cause, further weakening Persian control in the region.
