Alexander the Great part 28

Part 28

By Daily ReadPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Alexander's Strategy

Despite the challenges posed by the river and the enemy's advantageous position, Alexander was determined to engage the Persians immediately. His strategy relied on the element of surprise and the boldness of his cavalry. Alexander believed that a direct and aggressive assault would catch the Persians off guard and disrupt their formations.

The Macedonian army was arranged with the cavalry on the flanks and the phalanx in the center. Alexander himself took command of the Companion Cavalry on the right flank, while his trusted general, Parmenion, led the left. This arrangement allowed for flexibility and rapid response to the dynamic battlefield conditions.
