I have a bad habit of reading multiple books within the same time. I think I need to finish reading a book first before I start another. On top of that I have been going to the gym more often to try and lose some weight. I feel like the weight should be melting off with with all the excercise I do. I swim four times a week (20-60 minutes depending on my energy for the day), walk to work every day (20 minutes). On top of that I am dabbling in lots of excericse classes and trying new gym equipment and classes. It’s so amazing how the style of yoga classes are so different depending on who your tutor is.

I ended up reading and starting quite a few books, but I only managed to finish four. Maybe that’s a good thing though, reading more slowly is giving me time to enjoy the pages and atmosphere in the books more. I can’t help it though, in a fast paced life, I want to get though things as quickly as possible and try out as many things as I can. It’s come to the point I felt like the New Year resolutions and goals I had set for myself are beginning to slip away. Maybe they weren’t that sustainable to begin with.

My workplace have set up their own book club that meet on the third Tuesday of every month. It starts at 6PM and it’s convenient because I finish at 6PM on a Tuesday and it’s just across the road.

The book in question was this one. I really wanted to like the book, because I thought the book had a powerful opening. I just felt like it tried to be too many things at once. And I wish there was a happier ending after everything. It left me with so many questions. I felt the wilderness and the patriarchy and the clash of two worlds. The book club meeting made me understand and appreciate it more, but I don’t think it was a book I enjoyed reading as much as I would have liked.

Pigeon Tales is a collection of poems from a writing and singing group that started on Zoom and many live within my local area. This is actually the last book that I purchased. I went to a local event to support some of my friends from the writing group. Even though it was a small number of us, it was nice, and I felt like I got to know some members a lot more and their writing voices. One of the writers, Maggie has sadly passed away and reading some of her poems felt as if her spirit was close by. I really enjoyed the book.

The Nth Domain is a unique modern sci-fi that is one of a kind. The only way to compare this book to anything else is imagine if Sword Art Online, Team Fortress 2 and Chat GPT had a gangbang. Even that is a bit of an off description. There is a lot going on and it’s unpredictable. The author is also a regular at my local writing group. It feels more special to read it published after listening to excerpts read out loud. Gamers would enjoy this. It’s got computer AI, beta testers, strong violence and gore. It could easily work, as a video game itself. I finished reading this book on the 1st November, but I counted it on this list as I read most of it in October.

This was a powerful and personal account on the artist‘s experiences and trauma. I had picked this up because it made me think of a friend. It’s their birthday this month and they are non-binary. I hope they enjoy it when I give it to them.

I also read and enjoyed The Woman in Me by Britney Spears. Inwont go into too much detail on it, because I have already made my own post dedicated to the book. I thought it was a brilliant memoir because it’s tired so many emotions within me.
