Alexander the Great part 69

Part 69

By Daily ReadPublished about a month ago 1 min read

The Path Forward

After Gaugamela, Alexander's ambitions did not wane. He continued his campaigns, pushing further into Central Asia and eventually reaching the Indian subcontinent. Each victory expanded his empire and spread Greek culture further afield. However, these relentless campaigns also took a toll on his army and his own health.

Alexander's untimely death in 323 BCE at the age of 32 left his empire without a clear successor, leading to a period of turmoil and fragmentation. Despite this, the legacy of his conquests endured, shaping the course of history and leaving an indelible mark on the ancient world.
