A Short Story to Start

Let's start today's session with a short story: I once attended a funeral with a coworker in Australia. The deceased was Gan's closest friend. In the West, it's customary for close ones to stand up and share memories of the deceased. When my friend spoke, he recounted their childhood memories and the journey he witnessed as Gan grew up and lived his life. His speech was excellent, but the phrase that resonated most with me was the conclusion: "A Life Worth Living." This phrase lingered in my mind, making me ponder: How do I want to live my life so that when I lay down, I still believe I've lived a life worth living?

From those thoughts, I was led to a bigger question: How do I want my life to be told?

Today's Journey

In today's episode, I will share with you the journey I've taken to find answers for myself, illustrated through the images I will share. I have divided this journey into three stages.

Stage 1: The Investment Stage

The first stage I call the investment stage because, in my opinion, achieving good results in this world requires days dedicated to working hard and investing financially. If we want good results, we must have days of tightening our belts. Investing would be irrational if we put no effort into it and expect sweetness later. When we start taking control of our lives, after 18, we receive the keys from our parents to begin our own journey. This is when we must start the investment stage immediately.

What Should We Invest In?

The four most important aspects to invest in are:

Experiencing

Financial literacy

How do we effectively invest in these aspects? Let's return to the initial question: How do we want the story of our lives to be told? This is a very important question that each of us should ask ourselves. Finding the answer is crucial because if we can't find it, we don't know how we want our lives to be. Without a clear direction, we move forward confused and aimless, often following a predetermined path that may lead us to places we don't want to be.

Sketching Our Life's Picture

One of the most important goals is to sketch out a rough picture of what you want your life to be. This involves gathering as many experiences as possible to have the raw materials to create a fulfilling life.

Finding Our Passion

How do we find our passion? The only way is to experience a lot because it's difficult to determine if we like something just by observing. We must try things for long and deep enough to truly know.

Imagine asking a pianist what their life picture looks like; their answer will revolve around the piano and music. If we ask Professor Ngo Bao Chau, his answer will likely involve a lifetime of studying and doing math-related things. But if we ask a young person who just graduated from high school, it will be very difficult for them to answer because they haven't experienced enough to know what they like.

Conclusion

In conclusion, to live a life worth living, we must invest in ourselves, find our passions through experience, and continuously reflect on how we want our lives to be told. This journey is personal and unique to each individual, but the pursuit of a meaningful life is a universal endeavor.
