Wow! For being a community challenge, I am impressed by how cohesive this playlist ended up being! The vibes are pretty consistent, with enough variety to make it interesting and keep the pace engaging. And it's an absolute joy to listen to.

If you're unfamiliar with the inception of this project, it all started when I heard "Blue is the Eye" by Ye Vagabonds at work one day. It completely captured me, stopped me in my tracks, so to speak, and made me ponder art and its affect on people. I decided I wanted to hear the songs that captured other people's hearts and souls and to make a playlist of them.

This is that result.

Without further ado, here it is on Spotify:

And this is the YouTube version, if you'd prefer to listen to it there.

Now, as the comments rolled in, I began to loosely develop a two-song-maximum rule to prevent the playlist from becoming unbalanced with one person's songs. I definitely wanted it to feel like many people compiled it, which it DOES! I'm sorry if you submitted more than two, though. It was an oversight of mine not to specifically restrict the number of songs in my original article. I suppose I expected it to be difficult to find one song that stopped you in your tracks, so why even assume people would have three or more? 😅

If you take a look at the songs, there's no order besides flow. If you submitted two songs, I wanted to try to keep them separated, but that didn't always happen...in the interest of aforementioned flow. If anyone is interested in reordering the songs for their optimal sound (something I am not well-practiced in), please do. I'd love to hear the final result!

As it stands now, I really love this playlist. It's unique and interesting. Keeps you on your toes as a listener, and takes you for an emotional trip. In my humble opinion, it flows very well. There aren't a lot of hard-shifts into new genres or sounds; I tried to find good transition songs to prevent that, and I hope it works for you all. 😊

Thank you to everyone who participated in this project! You introduced me to a LOT of new artists and genres (I was surprised to see three songs from metal bands!) and gave me nearly 2 hours of good listening!

Wait, what about the tips?

In my last post about this, I mentioned that I'd tip my favorites. Those tips are forthcoming. I won't be announcing them, just doing it at my discretion. It wasn't a challenge, after all! However, I must say, I like the playlist so much, regardless of my favorite songs on it. Consider the tips more of a thank you than a reward.

While my original expectation was to get at least 12 songs, it ended up being double! I truly appreciate the enthusiasm behind this. Would anyone be interested in another playlist project? If so, I'd love some ideas in the comments! I don't see enough unofficial Beat challenges...might be fun to change that.

Cheers all, and I hope you enjoy our Community Playlist, preferably with some kind of hot beverage in front of you. (Although, tea is the only acceptable hot beverage, in my opinion.)

PS: The deadline to submit photos to my second Ekphrastic Challenge is June 5th! If you'd like to participate, it's not too late! (YET!)

Oh fun! I’d forgotten you were putting this up on streaming platforms :) This was a fun challenge, Mackenzie! How about, ‘A song that directly inspired your work’? Could be fun :)
