7 Reasons why you should NOT start playing GUITAR

Let's be honest for a second, every other person is learning to play guitar, hell. Here's why you shouldn't:

Every guy is Envious of this guy.

REASON 1. HARD TO LEARN

It is very hard to learn, 6 strings, 21 frets, a hell ton of notes, sharps and flats. On top of that chords and the ultimate switching between the chords. It makes the tips of the fingers HURT really bad. The instrument is really annoying, gets out of tune all the time, the pick falls and disappears, or lands in the sound hole. Ohhhh GOD!

REASON 2. WASTES TIME

It takes an entire eternity to learn a few things, and that too could easily be forgotten if not practiced regularly. That means, now you'll have to take some precious amount of time from 'Scrolling the Screen' to practice. What the hell? And, who has so much of free time everyday anyways? So, you'll be wasting your time practicing guitar while, you could have been updating your 'followers' about the awesome new Tattoo you got.

REASON 3. OVERRATED AND OVERDONE

I bet you've seen an annoying guy with guitar. He definitely shows up at parties and camps, taking all the attention. There is nothing special about him except for the fact he plays guitar. He attracts girls like ants to the sugar. BUT. Take it from me playing guitar doesn't get you girls. "Its just a thing that will make you great in your own eyes, not in hers".

Moreover, every other person is taking up Guitar, as a consequence not doing it will make you unique. Billions of tutorials are there for guitar. So it's not worth it.

REASON 4. YOU WILL NOT GET FAMOUS

This one follows the previous. You will not be a Guitar Legend as there will always be someone better than you. Music industry is already saturated. Making big in it, is really a dream. Also, the ratio of who make it and who do not, is extremely disturbing. Some later have to settle with a 9 to 5 job. That's really depressing.

REASON 5. EXPENSIVE $$££

Usually, guitar is not considered expensive, as other instruments like drums, Trumpets, or saxophones. But, who told you that you will stop there? You will need to pay for lessons and they are not cheap, then you'll feel the urge to upgrade your arsenal. It sounds like this, one more new guitar, one new amplifier, or just a new distortion pedal. And this never ends. You will spend thousands dollars like this. Bro, you could have got a new big tattoo on your chest, THINK.

REASON 6. NOT LIKELY TO GIVE SOLID RESULTS

If take cooking or baking classes, you'll have something great to eat at the end of every session. If you did gardening, you might get fruits or flowers. Whereas, Painting will lead you to have some art pieces that you might Gift to one of your special 'follower'. But what would you end up with music? You can't eat it, can't see it. You might have recorded something and you'll agree that, that sounds shit. So, no Practical Gains.

REASON 7. NO ONE CARES

Nobody gives a shit about your Expensive gear, supreme technique or any other thing. You'll be just another guy with guitar. People will borrow your guitar to pics clicked. They will listen to the shit that's in the air, but not to your words and tunes. On your face, they'll be your biggest fans, but know it, they are not. They will forget you, they are not real.

CONCLUSION

This is a sarcastic article, but it is based on truth to the most extent. Truth is hard to swallow, it's bitter, so is this article. I've been learning music from eight years and playing guitar for six years. I really came across all the reasons that I have mentioned above. I tried to present them in sarcastic tone. However, I exaggerated a little and just talked shit and negative about guitar playing. Personally, taking up guitar was the most life changing part of my life, it is now a part of my identity.

Its not about chords, scales, licks, or riffs, its about emotions. It gives an opportunity to create something new. How I like to think about it is that, it is talking to me. I speak to it by my mind and fingers, and it replies with beautiful sounds.

About Reason 7. 'No One Cares'. It has a lot of truth to it. If you think you can impress and attract people with your guitar people, you are right. But they are gone when you're done playing.

Its you who you play for. You are the only one who cares about your playing. It will keep you mentally fit in your later years. It definitely makes you smarter as a result of increased neural connection.

"If life gives a you an opportunity to learn an instrument, you are a special one from nature."
