By shivani joshiPublished 14 days ago 3 min read

Hello everyone today I want to share with you all some fun and interesting things about festivals which I discovered. Festivals are popular events that are born from traditional customs or religious rituals. It can mean everything from having fun to meeting friends, getting to know new people, treats for the kids, and much more.

Recently i got to know some amazing festivals and weird too which i would love to share with you all

1. Air Guitar World Championship – Finland

When I first heard about it I was like what is this well this is a festival held in Finland every month of August and the most weird thing about this festival is you do not require any instrument at all. Participants from all over the world flock to Finland to play an imaginary rock and roll, without the instruments. The whole purpose of this championship is to bring world peace. As the organizers say all bad things disappear if everyone in the world plays the Air Guitar, “Make Air, and Not War”.

2. Underwater music festival - Florida

Musicians, divers, and snorkelers have come to Florida to celebrate the Underwater Music Festival. Also popularly known as Lower Keys UMF.This rare festival aims to celebrate the coral reef and to create awareness to preserve the same and environmentally safe diving.

3. Toe Wrestling Championship – United Kingdom

I laughed out so badly when i heard it we all have heard about arm wrestling but in the UK they celebrate toe wrestling, sounds fun and interesting.Similar to arm wrestling, the sport pits two opponents against one another by locking feet in an effort to pin the other player's foot down. This tournament was created because the United Kingdom wanted a sports competition of their own. It's undeniably one of the world's most unusual festivals—strange enough to pique your interest.

4. International Kite Festival - India

Winter ends and summer begins in Gujarat (Uttarayan) with the International Kite Festival. Gujarat has a lot of cities that host kite tournaments to get people outside in the sun. It is thought that the sun's rays aid in the healing of skin infections and other winter-related ailments. Thin, colorful paper sheets are called kites, and they are joined to a large ball of string by being stretched, bonded, and fastened onto springy bamboo frames. During this season, kites of various sizes and hues flood the sky. It's really amazing to see!

5. Yorkshire Pudding Boat Race – England

This festival is celebrated in England in June. The idea here is to cook a giant-sized Yorkshire pudding and convert it into a boat. So ideally the festival is not made for eating, they’re made for racing.

6. La Pourcailhade Festival – France

The Festival of the Pig, also known as La Pourcailhade in French, is undoubtedly among the world's most peculiar celebrations. The pig is one of the most consumed animals worldwide. Pork may be used in countless recipes, including Coorg Pandi Curry, Thai Pork Salad, Roast Pork Belly, and Pork Sorpotel. It's all about the Pig, not pork as a theme for the event. Events include sausage-eating contests, the Best Pig Outfit competition, and mini-markets stocked with a wide assortment of delectable edible pig parts. To show support for the pig farming business, locals dress up as noses and pigtails.
